Wrestlemania 29 Predictions

Our predictions for tonight:
Rock vs Cena
Triple H vs Brock Lesnar
Del Rio vs Swagger
Orton, Sheamus, & Show vs The Shield
Barrett vs Miz
Ryback vs Mark Henry
Hell No vs Team AJ
Jericho vs Fandango
Tons of Funk + Funkadaclys vs Rhodes Scholars + Bella Twins
Undertaker
vs Punk

Two title changes: The WWE and Tag Team titles. Cena gets help winning. This will either turn him heel or start a slow heel turn for him.

I believe, without Bearer’s death, Punk was going to win and break the streak. The way they’ve built it, though, I can’t see Taker losing.

Breaking: Reid Flair dies at 24

According to multiple reports and confirmed by WrestlingFeeds, Reid Flair (real name Richard Reid Fliehr), the son of ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair has died at the age of 24. No details on his cause of death yet.

Reid’s history includes a drug arrest for heroin, so the possibility of his death being drug related (especially at his young age) is very high. The drug history stopped him from going to Ring of Honor as well as stopped the WWE from signing him to a developmental contract.

Reid’s half-brother David is also a professional wrestler who appeared in WCW. Reid’s sister Ashley has a WWE Developmental contract and competes in NXT as Charlotte.

More information as we have it.

Paul Bearer passes away

WWE has announced that Paul Bearer, real name Percy Pringle, died on the night of March 5th. He was 58. Bearer was the longtime manager of The Undertaker, and also the manager and storyline father of Kane.

In his real life job, Pringle was a funeral director. He was brought in to WWE for the express purpose of managing the Phenom.

Expect a tribute on Raw Monday, and possibly a Hall of Fame induction to honor him as he passes so close to WrestleMania 29.

Donald Trump announced for WWE Hall of Fame

On Saturday, April 6, 2013, real estate mogul, best-selling author and perennial thorn in Mr. McMahon’s side Donald Trump will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Bob Backlund and Trish Stratus in Madison Square Garden. (TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW)

“Donald is a global icon whose status brought an unmatched level of publicity and grandeur to WWE,” WWE Chairman and CEO Mr. McMahon said.

The star and co-producer of the hit NBC series, “The Apprentice” — which premieres its 13th season on Sunday, March 3 — Trump has been a key figure in WWE since 1988 when his Trump Plaza hosted WrestleMania IV. The following year, WrestleMania V emanated from the same building, making it the first venue to present consecutive Show of Shows. (TRUMP’S FULL PROFILE)

The Donald’s most lasting impact on WWE occurred at WrestleMania 23 when he put his famous head of hair on the line against Mr. McMahon’s mane in a “Battle of the Billionaires.” A record number of viewers tuned in to see Trump back Bobby Lashley to victory over Mr. McMahon’s Umaga and then shave The Chairman’s head in front of more than 80,000 WWE fans.

“It was literally the thrill of a lifetime performing in front of 80,000 enthusiastic fans during the ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ match at WrestleMania 23,” Donald Trump said.

Trump wasn’t done with Mr. McMahon just yet as he returned in 2009 to purchase Monday Night Raw from his rival. The following week, The Donald presented the show commercial-free and gave every fan in attendance a full refund. Mr. McMahon was so incensed with Trump’s actions that he was cornered into buying his program back for twice the price. (PHOTOS OF TRUMP)

“I’ve always enjoyed and respected WWE’s brand of entertainment and look forward to the ceremony in my hometown at Madison Square Garden,” the Chairman and President of The Trump Organization said.

Want to be there when The Donald enters the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6? Tickets for the Induction Ceremony are on sale now and available at the MSG box office, online at Ticketmaster.com and various Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. Ticket prices range from $50 to $150.

Swagger works Waco house show

At the same event that Undertaker made his in-ring return to WWE, Jack Swagger won a match with ‘The Human Botch Machine’ Sin Cara. This was despite him being taken off the show originally following his arrest on DUI, speeding, and marijuana possession.

With his character being red hot with the complaints from conservative commentators, WWE probably viewed the attention outweighing the negative press. We will find out for sure tomorrow on Raw, but it looks right now as if the arrest won’t affect Swagger facing Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29.

Undertaker returns at house show w/ pic & tout

Wrestling Legend The Undertaker returned to action at last night’s house show in Waco, Texas. He teamed with Sheamus to take on Wade Barrett and Damien Sandow.

Although unconfirmed, this seems to indicate that Taker will appear tomorrow night on Raw, and will work WrestleMania 29.

WWE released the following Tout of his entrance:

Taker won the match with a Tombstone Piledriver on Sandow.

WWE formally invites Glenn Beck to appear on Raw Monday

Following his criticism over the portrayal of WWE Superstars Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter, WWE has extended a formal invitation to talk show host and political commentator Glenn Beck to appear on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

WWE’s invitation stems from Beck’s recent segment in which he discussed the ongoing rivalry between World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, No. 1 contender Swagger and his self-styled mentor Colter. In the segment, Beck specifically directed his comments toward the character of Swagger, recently reinvented as a xenophobic “Real American” who delivers anti-immigration “State of the Union” addresses as the antagonist to the Mexican hero Del Rio. Beck inferred that Swagger’s persona, along with that of Colter as his mentor, would offend WWE’s “conservative” fan base. Beck also referenced WWE as “stupid wrestling people” in the segment, which aired Thursday on The BlazeTV.

WWE is in the entertainment business, creating characters and stories that revolve around our Superstars as well as culturally significant current events. Given Mr. Beck’s comments, WWE is formally extending an invitation to him to address our 14 million weekly viewers and global fan base — as well as the live audience of the WWE Universe — on WWE programming this Monday night. We look forward to Mr. Beck’s reply and the opportunity to have him on Raw.

RVDs 2006 arrest most similar to Swaggers

Rob Van Dam was arrested in August 2006 with 18 grams of weed and another substance in his car. His passenger, Sabu, received a $1000 fine from WWE. RVD was written off TV the following Monday and suspended for 60 days without pay. At the time, RVD was the dual ECW and WWE champion. Needless to say, he was no longer champion when he was suspended.

All things considered, this is a very similar situation to Swagger. Biggest push he’s ever had, and was arrested after a traffic stop due to possession of a controlled substance. The DUI and speeding of Swagger bring the two events into similarity, because by all accounts, Swagger had a lot less than 18 grams of weed on him.

I expect one of two things. Either Swagger gets suspended tomorrow and loses his WrestleMania World Heavyweight Championship slot, or on Monday he loses it in a match and is then suspended.

WWE may do it off air, because of the backlash they were already receiving about Swaggers character. With this event on top of that, WWE may want to just wash their hands of this for at least 30 days and let someone else have the championship spot at WM.

There is plenty of talent available for the fill in, especially with the long time period still to go before the event. It will probably be made into a triple threat, either Del Rio vs Henry vs Orton, or Del Rio vs Jericho vs Ziggler. With Jericho out of the country touring with Fozzy the next two weeks, it would be hard to explain his inclusion. They could simply have Ziggler announce he will claim the spot with his briefcase, however.

We will probably know a lot of answers tomorrow when WWE has had time to go over their options.

Breaking: Jack Swagger arrest last night for DUI, Pot, Traffic Violations

0220-donald-hager-tmz-mug
WWE star Jack Swagger was arrested last night in Mississippi, TMZ has learned — after allegedly driving under the influence … with pot in his car.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ, Swagger — real name Jacob Hager — was leaving a “Smackdown” taping at Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi when he was pulled over for speeding.

According to law enforcement, the officer who pulled him over determined Swagger was driving under the influence — and a search revealed Swagger was in possession of marijuana.

We’re told Swagger — a former WWE World Heavyweight champ — was taken in by local sheriff’s deputies … and later released on his own recognizance.

He has been charged with DUI, marijuana possession, and speeding — all misdemeanors.

We reached out to WWE, who tells TMZ, “Mr. Swagger is responsible for his own personal actions.”

Bruno Sammartino to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

Bruno Sammartino is to professional wrestling what Babe Ruth is to baseball.

The legendary grappler is the longest reigning WWE (then WWF) champion of all-time, with two title reigns spanning an eye-popping 11-plus years. And his legacy of headlining Madison Square Garden over 200 times is what turned the Italian-born brawler into a worldwide sensation.

So it’s only fitting that Sammartino will be the main attraction at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on April 6 at MSG.

“Being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Madison Square Gardens is the biggest thing in my life,” Sammartino said in an exclusive interview for ESPN Playbook. “Any time that people feel that you accomplished enough to enter into a Hall of Fame, of course this is a tremendous, tremendous thrill for me. I had a lot of my success due to appearing at the Garden. I wrestled there over 200 times, it’s where I won the title, and it’s where I picked up 630-plus pounds of Haystacks Calhoun.”

And while Sammartino had turned down the WWE’s previous offers of inducting him into its Hall of Fame due to a well-documented feud with the wrestling organization’s CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon over a wide range of issues — from Sammartino not liking the vulgar direction the product took during the Attitude Era to Sammartino’s criticism of drug abuse by members of the roster back in the 80s — it was WWE executive Paul Levesque (aka Triple H) who stepped in and finally changed the legend’s mind.

“In talking to Paul Levesque, I made it clear, I’ve had issues with WWE and wrestling in general, because there were other organizations,” Sammartino said. “I didn’t like the direction they had taken. It was bothersome to me. I’m an old-school guy. I spent 25 years in this business. But after talking to Paul, and him explaining to me the changes they’ve made in their program, and how they’ve hired a doctor like Dr. Maroon, who is a world renowned neurosurgeon, who also operated on me, and now that he has been put in charge of the company’s wellness program and their drug testing, that impressed me. I know what kind of a man he is, and he is a giant in that field, so I take my hat off to WWE because they took such huge steps to make things better for the wrestlers themselves and making sure they are healthy to perform. That was very, very important.

“But as Paul explained to me, WWE made a lot of other changes. There’s no more profanity, there’s no vulgarity in the current product, and that stuff had bothered me as well. When Paul first spoke to me and told me all the changes, I started watching it again and I was very convinced that they are doing amazing things. I see the wrestlers and all the changes they made. There’s no profanity, there’s no vulgarity, and it’s a family-friendly program. That’s what it used to be, and that’s a huge role in the whole factor.”

In finally signing Sammartino, WWE sees this as an opportunity to not only celebrate everything he has done for the business, but to add legitimacy to its Hall of Fame.

“From a legitimacy standpoint, it’s important for us to get Bruno in,” Levesque said. “He’s one of the biggest names there has ever been in the business. So for us to not have him in there, for the legitimacy of the whole thing, it was a major issue. For me, the more important thing was that nobody deserves to be recognized for being a big star and paving the way for the stars of today more than Bruno. Everything that we have today in the business, Bruno was a cornerstone of that foundation. He truly is a living legend.

“As we started getting into Hall of Fame season, it’s almost like this storyline wrote itself. To have Bruno Sammartino brought into the Hall of Fame in Madison Square Garden, a building he sold out more than anybody in the world, that’s a remarkable achievement. It was an opportunity to honor Bruno, but it was also an opportunity for our fans.

“There has been this bad blood between Bruno and the WWE for years, and we’re not trying to hide any of it, but I just felt like we are at a point where a lot of it can be resolved. Our wellness program and the way our programming is now, a lot of people are unaware of it, so I felt like if I could get Bruno on the phone and I could run down a list of those things that he didn’t like, I could show him how we changed. We’re PG, family-friendly entertainment with a wellness program that is truly based on the wellness of our performers. We want them to be healthy and live long, productive lives. So I just felt that if Bruno knew about those things, he might feel differently, and eventually, that’s what came to be.”

While Bruno has accepted the WWE’s offer to make an appearance at the Hall of Fame, he still hasn’t had the chance to speak to Vince McMahon, as Levesque is organizing a sit-down so the two can resolve any lingering issues face-to-face.

“Clearly, Vince knew about this right from the get-go, and when I said I wanted to reach out to Bruno, Vince was probably thinking, ‘Well, good luck with that,’” Levesque said. “So Bruno and I established this relationship and as we came to an understanding on all of this, Vince asked me, ‘Hey, do you think I should call Bruno? I’d like to talk to him.’ At the same time, Bruno said, ‘Do you think I should have a conversation with Vince?’ And I said no to both of them. I didn’t think it was right to do over the phone. They had bad blood for a long time, and we’ve all kind of buried the hatchet here, and it’s a new beginning and a fresh start and everybody is in a great place with this, but going back to what Bruno said about being old school, I think we should all get in the same room together and the two of them should look each other in the eyes and shake hands. This should be in person. I don’t think it’s right to do over the phone. They both agreed to do that, and while it hasn’t happened yet, Hall of Fame is probably where we’ll make that happen. Vince and Bruno will see each other for the first time in years and officially, in person, look each other in the eyes and bury that hatchet.”

As for trying to keep the announcement a secret, “it’s not ‘Mission Impossible’ or anything like that,” laughs Levesque, “but to me, Bruno getting into the Hall of Fame in Madison Square Garden is the biggest induction we’ve ever done, and rightfully so. He deserves that. So to just have it leak out there, that would’ve been wrong. This is a huge moment in time, and a massive moment for our fans, for Bruno, and for WWE. This is the history of our business. Without Bruno Sammartino, we aren’t where we are today.”

WWE and the USA network released the following to the press regarding. Last nights Raw. It was the best rated Raw since Raw 1000 as well as the second best of the three hour Raw era. She has recently undergone WWE sponsored rehab after being arrested 5 times in a week for domestic violence.

Is Eve leaving the WWE? #Raw20

Multiple reports are stating that Eve’s contract with the WWE is up and she will be leaving the WWE in the very short term. Short enough that she will lose the Divas title tonight on the 20th anniversary episode of Monday Night Raw and possibly have that be her last appearance with the company. She is schedule to compete against Kaitlyn tonight in a Divas title match.

Bret Hart not happy with last WWE appearance

Bret HartIt seems Bret “The Hitman” Hart was not happy with his last appearance for WWE at RAW 1000 according to PWInsider.com.

Hart was contacted by WWE to be at the 20th anniversary show tonight but apparently Hart would only attend if creative had something good for him to do. He didn’t like how he was only used for a small ringside appearance at the historical show in July.

No word yet on if WWE and Hart did come to an agreement on something for tonight.

Status of HBK and Undertaker for #Raw20

According to PWInsider,  The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are expected to be at tonight’s 20th anniversary show of RAW in Houston.

Michaels was the Intercontinental Champion on the very first episode of RAW and The Undertaker was in the main event of the first RAW. The Undertaker has been rumored to take on CM Punk for WrestleMania 29. It’s possible we could see a tease of The Undertaker’s WrestleMania feud tonight.

With Michaels and Undertaker both being Texas residents, the show being in Houston helps with them being available.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is also rumored to appear, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Randy Orton to take time off in 2013?

According to PWInsider.com, Randy Orton could be taking some time off in 2013. The reason noted is to handle a personal family issue. The time off is said to have nothing to do with injury or a wellness violation.

Breaking News: CM Punk has knee surgery

From WWE.com

CM Punk surgery

WWE.com has learned WWE Champion CM Punk is currently undergoing surgery on his knee in Pensacola, Fla.

Last night, after Ryback drove him through a table, The Straight Edge Superstar took a late night flight to Florida for an emergency consultation with Dr. James Andrews. A review of his condition resulted in the WWE Champion’s immediate surgery today. (PHOTOS FROM RAW)

WWE.com will continue to report on Punk’s condition as more details become available.

__________________________

No word on how this will effect Punk’s 380 day (as of today) title reign – if he will be allowed to hold onto the title until he is well enough to go, or if he will be forced to vacate it.

Probably means Ryback’s push ends.

Breaking: Mr McMahon to issue State of WWE address Monday on Raw

The WWE sent out the following tweet today:

@WWE: BREAKING: WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon to deliver #StateofWWE Address on Monday’s #Raw. Details: http://t.co/OR1vYaEG

With recent rumors stating Vince is very upset with the current state of Raw, could he shake things up with some changes? Or is he simply going to brag about the amount of programming they now produce each week?

With less than a month until the elections, don’t expect anything shocking. He won’t do anything to hurt Linda’s election chances.

The other side of this is that it gives CM Punk someone to interrupt this week, which may be all this is.

Shawn Daivari Chokes Beligirent Train Passenger

We would have gone with a pile driver, but his move was OK, too.

Former WWE star Shawn Daivari told TMZ that he performed an expert wrestling move and saved the day when a passenger went berserk on an airport-bound train out of Minneapolis on Thursday.

The perp reportedly threatened to kill everyone on the train and was yelling racial slurs, but Daivari wasn’t having that. He says he used a rear naked choke hold – classic move — to subdue the would-be killer.

He told the site it was all he could think to do at the time. He and other passengers had pressed an emergency button to call for help, but nobody came.

“I wasn’t going to wait any longer to see if a cop showed up,” Daivari said.

Witnesses said Daivari squeezed the violent passenger’s neck so hard he peed his pants. Then the wrestler threw the man out at the next stop.

Metro Transit Rail told TMZ that “Metro Transit police responded after being alerted by the train operator to a fight on board. The investigation is ongoing.”

Daivari left WWE in 2007 for live TNA wrestling, according to ProWrestling.net. No matter what organization he’s a part of, at least he’s proven that pro wrestling is real, as some Twitter users pointed out.

Fantastic Interview with Daniel Bryan

Update on Lawler from family friends

The following is from PWTorch.com:

Tuesday afternoon Jerry Lawler update – friends of Jerry Lawler’s family tell PWTorch that Lawler had three stints put in Monday night following a heart attack. Lawler still has not spoken since passing out during Raw.

The latest on Jerry Lawler – including video

The story about Jerry Lawler’s heart attack and collapse last night on Raw has been covered in many major news sources this morning, and would probably be a lot more if it wasn’t the 11th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Smith Hart, Bret Hart’s brother, said last night that Lawler was ‘clinically dead’ for 20 minutes before being revived by defibrilator. Smith heard this second-hand, from an independent wrestler named Jeremy Prophet, who was backstage at Raw last night.

WWE.com has the following statement on its website currently:

Jerry “The King” Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal.  We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.

Here is video of Lawler being carried out. They take him into the crowd to avoid him being seen by the cameras as he was brought to the back for treatment.

Lawler’s girlfriend posted the following on her Facebook page:

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It has been confirmed that Jerry did have a heart attack…he is in stable condition and breathing on his own & heart is stable. I’m getting on the first flight out of here to be with him & will keep everyone posted. He is a strong man and we will get him back at his best as soon as I can get him home! I love you so so much baby!

Lawler had wrestled earlier in the night in a tag match with Randy Orton against the team of Dolph Ziggler and CM Punk. Orton pinned Ziggler to win the match. If it turns out that this is Lawler’s last match, not bad company to have it with.

Jerry Lawler collapses during Raw- not a storyline

WWE Hall of Famer, legend, and announcer Jerry Lawler collapsed during a match between The Prime Time Players and Kane and Daniel Bryan on the broadcast of Raw tonight from Montreal.

He was seen visibly slumped over during the match, and the competitors near him looked concerned. Michael Cole has given two updates, one that he was getting CPR and that this was ‘not part of tonight’s entertainment’ and the other that Lawler was taken to a medical center and was now breathing on his own.

Cole said that out of respect to Lawler, he would not be doing any further commentary tonight.

Cole’s third update went into much more detail, and said Lawler is much more responsive now, and awaiting a CAT scan.

More as it happens.

Animal’s son signs $23.5m guaranteed NFL contract

James Laurinaitis, the son of WWE legend Road Warrior Animal and nephew of John Laurinaitis, has signed a 5 year extension with the St Louis Rams of the NFL worth $41.5m, with $23.5m guaranteed. In the NFL, the guaranteed number is the only important number, as contracts rarely are played out to their full length without being changed.

James was an exceptional college player for Ohio State before being signed by the Rams in 2009. He has had three very good seasons on a team that has been near the bottom of the league.

Breaking: WWE Network put on indefinite hold?

The following was reported today as an ‘exclusive’ from WrestleZone.com

WZ has learned today that plans for the WWE Network have been put on hold indefinitely. At this point, the network hasn’t a single deal signed with cable providers, and while WWE was considering making the network a pay channel, similar to HBO, internal studies have shown less than 100,000 homes would be willing to pay a monthly fee.

Additionally, WZ has learned through sources close to the head of the HR department and the VP of programming, that all hiring for the network has been frozen. In fact, we have been told any new hires that have been made for the network are in jeopardy of being terminated.

Initially, the launch was pushed to November 12th of this year, then to February of 2013, but as of this writing the network is not going forward at all. We’ve been told WWE failed to realize what a big onset and investment the network would be, and NBC Universal was going to sell WWE part of its Universal HD channel, but WWE balked and wanted its own network.

Now, with no infrastructure set up at all, we’ve been told a network would be virtually impossible to create in 6-12 months.

Tyler Reks granted his WWE release

Tyler Reks (real name Gabe Tuft) has left the WWE. He posted the following statement on Facebook and Twitter.

I just want to say thank you to WWE, Inc. for allowing me to be part of an incredible entertainment experience. On Monday, I asked for my release and the company was gracious enough to grant my request.
I realized recently that being a Superstar means sacrificing certain things, including time with my family. As a new father, my heart broke every time I had to leave to go on the road. I didn’t ever want to miss another moment with my daughter, so I made the decision to be a full time dad and hang up my boots.
I will miss everyone in the locker room tremendously as they have all become a second family to me. I want to thank my coaches and teachers that really helped me along the way: Fit Finlay, Arn Anderson, Edge, Christian, Kane, Jericho, Dr. Tom, Norman Smiley, and Billy Kidman.
I also want to thank my boys. You know who you are. Especially though, a huge thank you to Hawkins. You were like a brother to me the last year and I’ll miss you and will always love you bro. I wish you the best and thanks for understanding that I had to go be a dad. When she’s older, and able to realize what happened, I know Mia will thank you as well.
Thanks to all the dedicated fans of #ReksAndHawkins and to The #RekkingCrew. I would never have survived without you.

Preshow: United States Championship Match – Santino Marella (c) vs. Antonio Cesaro

I can’t see Cesaro going over yet. He gets little to no reaction from the live audience, regardless of the IWC or people who watched him in ROH. If it wasn’t for Aksana, he wouldn’t even be on TV.
Winner: Santino Marella

WWE Tag Team Championship Match – Kofi Kingston & R-Truth (c) vs. The Prime Time Players

The tag division is a strange place. Primo and Epico were picking up victories over PTP left and right, and then they just got left behind. Now with AW being released, I can’t see PTP being able to hold the titles on their own right now.
Winners: Kofi Kingston & R-Truth

Intercontinental Championship Match – The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio

Mysterio has floundered since coming back from injury and suspension. The Miz came back from filming The Marine 3 and was given the IC title right away. Regardless of Mysterio’s win over The Miz to get this title opportunity, I don’t think the powers that be want him getting a push right now.
Winner: The Miz

Kane vs. Daniel Bryan

Easy one to choose. Kane doesn’t need to win. However, they want to keep Bryan looking strong.
Winner: Daniel Bryan

Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler

Jericho is leaving soon and Ziggler is going to cash in the briefcase and get a WHC-feud. However, I think they are going to give Jericho a ‘thank you’ for him doing the job to anyone and everyone this run, and let him have someplace to go when he comes back next time – directly into a feud with Ziggler.

Winner: Chris Jericho

WWE Championship Triple Threat Match – CM Punk (c) vs. John Cena vs. Big Show

Big Show will not win. He doesn’t even have to be in this match. Waste of time. With Punk already attacking The Rock and feuding with him on Twitter, I find it hard to see him losing the belt between now and Royal Rumble.
Winner: CM Punk

World Heavyweight Championship Match – Sheamus (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

Sheamus demanded to have this match put back on. That doesn’t bode well for him winning it. I see some sort of dirty finish with Del Rio winning the title. Then Sheamus destroys Del Rio after the bell, and Ziggler comes down to cash in Money in the Bank. This might even happen BEFORE Ziggler vs Jericho.
Winner and new World Heavyweight Champion: Alberto Del Rio

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar

The WWE has made Lesnar look pretty bad. While he dominated Cena before losing, since then he’s looked downright horrible. He takes this win to push him into whoever he feuds with next.
Winner: Brock Lesnar

WWE releases AW – But what is the real reason?

After AW (Abraham Washington) made a joke referring to Kobe Bryant and rape last week on Monday Night Raw, stating that Titus O’Neil was “like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado … he’s unstoppable.”, the fans started to wonder how he would be punished. Now we know. According to AW (real name Brian Jossie), he was fired today for that joke, terminating his contract. However, immediately after the joke, WWE (in the form of Michael Cole) issued a live apology for the statement.

A search on Google for ‘Abraham Washington’ does not pull up any main stream (non-sports or wrestling) site mentioning the joke, except for TMZ. Why is that relevant? It means there was no backlash for the joke.

WWE might have had other backstage issues with AW, and are just using the imagined backlash as a way to get him off the roster. However – it doesn’t make sense that they would let him appear twice more on TV after the joke aired.

AW has been all over his old twitter account bashing WWE, and retweeting fans and even Rikishi doing the same.

AW can be found on twitter on his old account at http://twitter.com/awpromotions and his new account at http://twitter.com/bjratedr

Jordan Burroughs wins Wrestling Olympic Gold

American Jordan Burroughs won the Gold Medal in the 74kg weight class in freestyle wrestling at the London 2012 Olympics.

Burroughs is undefeated in his international career, and is believed to be one of the athletes the WWE is scouting at the Games.

Jordan Burroughs goes to the Gold Medal Match

Jordan Burroughs, who is without a doubt one of the people that Mark Henry and others from the WWE are scouting at the Olympics, is in the finals of his weight class after winning his first 3 bouts today.

He competes in Freestyle Wrestling, in the 74kg weight class. If he wins the Gold, which he is the favorite to do, he would not only receive $250,000 from the ‘Living the Dream Medal Fund’, he would get major consideration at at least a tryout with the WWE. With Punk, Bryan, and Jericho all claiming their pure wrestling prowess, bringing in an Olympic champion wrestler would add an interesting twist. And with Burroughs standing only 5’8″, that puts him, size-wise, on the same sort of scale as those superstars.

You can follow Burroughs on Twitter: @alliseeisgold

Is the Funkasaurus extinct?

F4WOnline.com is reporting that people in WWE Creative are considering dropping the Funkasaurus gimmick from Brodus Clay and giving him more of an edge.

Since he was seemingly written off TV for a while (partially to film ‘No One Lives’ for WWE Studios), this could very well be the case.

The Funkasaurus gimmick was supposed to be a punishment for Brodus revealing via Twitter prior to a Raw episode that he was going to be the one to write John Morrison off TV. Brodus (and the fans) made it work, but as a ‘comedy’ gimmick, it can only go so far.

Chris Jericho tweets about Kevin Nash’s recent comments

Regarding the recent Grantland article about Kevin Nash where he said that wrestling died at WrestleMania 20 when Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero where crowned champions.

Kevin Nash says wrestling biz died at WrestleMania 20

Source: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8241536/wrestling-star-kevin-nash-making-headway-hollywood-keeps-night

When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business,” he says. “Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I’m sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you’re not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That’s not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion.”

He has the same problem with today’s Internet heroes, Phil “CM Punk” Brooks and Bryan “Daniel Bryan” Danielson.

“They are not bigger than life,” he says. “I bet they could both walk through airports and not be noticed unless they have a gimmick shirt on and the belt.”

Breaking: CM Punk to speak to open Raw tonight

Via the WWE text service, CM Punk will address his actions of leaving Cena to be destroyed by The Big Show and then taking out The Rock as he saved Cena. This will open the show at 8pm.

Raw is now on its regular 3 hour program, and this will be the first without legends and segments to fill a ton of that time, so it is the first true 3 hour test.

Tonight’s show is the actual 1000th episode, as the celebration was moved up a week as to not compete with the Olympics.

The leader of the group is going to be a bigger name, which WO thinks is going to be Jeff Jarrett.

Stone Cold posts why he wasn’t at #Raw1000

Source: http://brokenskullranch.com/archives/1142

On July 23, 2012 WWE celebrated the 1,oooth episode of Monday Night Raw.  I watched the show from my home in Los Angeles.  After watching the show, I got on my Twitter account, @steveaustinBSR, to read responses to the show.  There were many people blaming Vince McMahon and the WWE for not having SCSA on the show.  And there were some folks who had some very negative things to say about me, personally.

The reason I did not attend RAW 1,000 was because I underwent a major knee surgery on my left knee on July 2, 2012.  Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA performed the surgery.

The surgery  was a complete success.  I am currently three weeks post op.  I began physical therapy a few days ago.  I had a world class surgeon and a great medical team working on me.  I am now working with a top notch PT team.  I am still on crutches and will probably lose the crutches in another week.  Then I will be in a custom knee brace much like the braces I wore in the ring for 9-12 weeks.

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN IS A 100% ASS KICKING MACHINE.  There was no way I was going to limp down the ramp on crutches for RAW 1,000.  It was time to get my knee fixed.  The decision to no-show RAW 1,000 was made by me and no one else.  I have always taken pride in making my shots and have never faked an injury or illness.  Pro Wrestling is a tough game and it was time to pay the piper for some of the damage I incurred in the ring.  No gripes.  No complaints.

To the fans that were hoping to see SCSA, I’m sorry I missed the show.  I would have loved to be there under different circumstances.  I normally keep my personal business to myself, but due to feedback and incorrect speculation, I have posted this blog and given the 411 on why I was not at RAW 1,000.

I will post more blogs about my PT and recovery soon.

CM Punk turns heel to close #Raw1000

With John Cena being destroyed by Big Show after their math, CM Punk did not try to stop him. This lead to The Rock running to the ring to stop Show. As Rock went for the people’s elbow, Punk got back in the ring and laid Rock out with a clothesline, which was followed up by a GTS. The show closed with Punk walking up the ramp getting resounding boos while Cena and Rock laid in the ring and Show on the floor.

Cena cashes in MITB, wins match by DQ

John Cena and CM Punks WWE Championship match ended when Big Show interfered while Punk was trapped in the STF. No word on if the DQ will give Cena the briefcase back.

Undertaker returns

The Umdertaker returned to help Kane fight off 6 superstars tonight on the 1000th episode of Raw. Michael Cole played it up like UT will be sticking around for more than a one off appearance.

The Rock takes on the WWE Champion at Royal Rumble

The Rock announced tonight that he will take on whoever the WWE Champion is at Royal Rumble. So far, they’ve teased both CM Punk and John Cena as opponents.

New RAW GM announced

WWE Publishes App for Windows 8 Start Screen

Windows 8 will feature a brand new way to use your PC – a full screen ‘Start Screen’ with new apps that use the entire screen to display.

Bret Hart to accompany UFC fighter tonight

On the preliminary matches for UFC tonight on the FX Network, WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart will accompany Nick ‘The Promise’ Ring to the octagon before his fight with Court McGee.

The reason for Hart accompanying him is that McGee is from Calgary, Alberta like the Hart family.

Personal Thank You From Vince McMahon – Video

http://www.wwe.com/inside/chairman-thank-you

“I would like to personally thank you and the entire WWE Universe for your never-ending support as WWE achieves TV history with its record-breaking 1,000th edition of Monday Night RAW. In celebration of this historic night, we invite you to join us this Monday for a monumental three-hour event. Once again, we thank you for making RAW the success it has become and we look forward to creating another 1,000 episodes.”

Hogan clarifies his Northeast Wrestling appearance status

Hogan posted the following tweets:

This makes it clear Hogan didn’t know his own schedule and erroneously called the promotion deceptive. Hopefully he will fulfill his commitments and attend.

Dolph Ziggler Interview with IGN

The most athletic in-ring performer in the WWE today, and almost a modern embodiment of Curt Hennig and Rick Rude, is Dolph Ziggler. But with only a short (one episode of Smackdown) reign as the World Heavyweight Champion under his belt, many fans are worried that Ziggler will, like Hennig and Rude, never get to win the “big one” due to the fact that, well…he just makes everyone else look so damn good in the ring!

But now Ziggler, after a hard fought ladder match at last Sunday’s Pay-Per-View, has the Money in the Bank contract and can cash it in at any time on an unsuspecting wearer of the “Big Gold Belt.” John Cena, the other Money in the Bank winner, has already figured out a way to use his contract; challenging CM Punk to a WWE Championship match this Monday at RAW’s mega-hyped 1000th episode. I talked to Ziggler about RAW 1000, winning the MITB contract, hosting and writing WWE Download on WWE.com and more!

WO Reports on FCW talent

According to the Wrestling Observer, three FCW women are viewed as having major main roster potential.

The three in question are:

  • Ivelisse Velez (ring name Sofia Cortez) who was on last years Tough Enough
  • Shaul Guerrero (ring name Raquel Diaz) who is the daughter of Eddie and Vickie
  • Britani Knight (ring name Paige) an independent wrestler from England

The report goes on to say that Paige could be ‘the future of the divas division.

The Observer also says that Triple H is very high on Michael McGillicutty, who is Curt ‘Mr Perfect’ Hennig’s son, Joe.

Hopefully when they move Shaul Guerrero and Joe Hennig to the main roster, they will let them use their parents heritage to help them get over.

Miami Herald, Jerry Lawler tease Undertaker appearance at #Raw1000

From the Miami Herald:

The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels wrestled on episode 1, a one-hour show emanating from the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center Studios, a small New York City theater. Both are expected to be involved in episode 1,000.

“It goes without saying,” Lawler said. “Undertaker is literally a piece of work. This guy is amazing. There’s never been anyone like him and probably never will be again.

“So many words come to mind — dedication, perseverance and a love for this business. You really have to have those kind of things to last anywhere near as long as the Undertaker has lasted and to still be on top and relevant in this business today after 1,000 episodes of a weekly TV show is hard to imagine.”

What I would like to see is Lesnar destroying Triple H, others, being unstoppable. Then the Gong hits, and UT comes out, setting up UT-Lesnar at WM29.

Hulk Hogan accuses Northeast Wrestling of deception

TNA authority figure Hulk Hogan accused the Northeast Wrestling promotion of being “deceptive” in advertising him for their September 22 show in New York. Hogan, who is listed as the headline act for the event, tweeted Thursday night, “Northeastwrestling on oww forums is very deceptive,I never signed to wrestle for any of these independents, won’t be there on Sept 22. HH.” Hogan’s tweet goes against the most-recent tweet from NEW on Wednesday, which reads: “Hulk Hogan’s surgery went well and he will be ready for Sept. 22nd in Fishkill, N.Y.”

NEW is now announcing adding Roddy Piper to the show.

On a personal note, this is disappointing, since I was planning on attending the event.

Cena settles divorce agreement with ex-wife

According to TMZ:

John Cena‘s divorce nightmare has come to an end … in fact, the two sides have agreed to bury the hatchet … TMZ has learned.

As we previously reported, Elizabeth Huberdeau felt like she was blindsided when Cena  unexpectedly filed to end their 3-year marriage back in May.

Things got nasty … quickly … with Liz making moves to challenge the couple’s prenup. Liz also said she believed Cena was messing around with other women behind her back.

But now, Liz’s attorney, Raymond Rafool, tells TMZ the two have managed to work things out privately … saying, “All matters [in the divorce] have been settled and resolved amicably.”

The terms of the settlement are confidential.

So far, no comment from Cena’s camp.
