Breaking: Reid Flair dies at 24

According to multiple reports and confirmed by WrestlingFeeds, Reid Flair (real name Richard Reid Fliehr), the son of ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair has died at the age of 24. No details on his cause of death yet.

Reid’s history includes a drug arrest for heroin, so the possibility of his death being drug related (especially at his young age) is very high. The drug history stopped him from going to Ring of Honor as well as stopped the WWE from signing him to a developmental contract.

Reid’s half-brother David is also a professional wrestler who appeared in WCW. Reid’s sister Ashley has a WWE Developmental contract and competes in NXT as Charlotte.

More information as we have it.

Paul Bearer passes away

WWE has announced that Paul Bearer, real name Percy Pringle, died on the night of March 5th. He was 58. Bearer was the longtime manager of The Undertaker, and also the manager and storyline father of Kane.

In his real life job, Pringle was a funeral director. He was brought in to WWE for the express purpose of managing the Phenom.

Expect a tribute on Raw Monday, and possibly a Hall of Fame induction to honor him as he passes so close to WrestleMania 29.

Donald Trump announced for WWE Hall of Fame

On Saturday, April 6, 2013, real estate mogul, best-selling author and perennial thorn in Mr. McMahon’s side Donald Trump will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Bob Backlund and Trish Stratus in Madison Square Garden. (TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW)

“Donald is a global icon whose status brought an unmatched level of publicity and grandeur to WWE,” WWE Chairman and CEO Mr. McMahon said.

The star and co-producer of the hit NBC series, “The Apprentice” — which premieres its 13th season on Sunday, March 3 — Trump has been a key figure in WWE since 1988 when his Trump Plaza hosted WrestleMania IV. The following year, WrestleMania V emanated from the same building, making it the first venue to present consecutive Show of Shows. (TRUMP’S FULL PROFILE)

The Donald’s most lasting impact on WWE occurred at WrestleMania 23 when he put his famous head of hair on the line against Mr. McMahon’s mane in a “Battle of the Billionaires.” A record number of viewers tuned in to see Trump back Bobby Lashley to victory over Mr. McMahon’s Umaga and then shave The Chairman’s head in front of more than 80,000 WWE fans.

“It was literally the thrill of a lifetime performing in front of 80,000 enthusiastic fans during the ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ match at WrestleMania 23,” Donald Trump said.

Trump wasn’t done with Mr. McMahon just yet as he returned in 2009 to purchase Monday Night Raw from his rival. The following week, The Donald presented the show commercial-free and gave every fan in attendance a full refund. Mr. McMahon was so incensed with Trump’s actions that he was cornered into buying his program back for twice the price. (PHOTOS OF TRUMP)

“I’ve always enjoyed and respected WWE’s brand of entertainment and look forward to the ceremony in my hometown at Madison Square Garden,” the Chairman and President of The Trump Organization said.

Want to be there when The Donald enters the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6? Tickets for the Induction Ceremony are on sale now and available at the MSG box office, online at and various Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. Ticket prices range from $50 to $150.

Swagger works Waco house show

At the same event that Undertaker made his in-ring return to WWE, Jack Swagger won a match with ‘The Human Botch Machine’ Sin Cara. This was despite him being taken off the show originally following his arrest on DUI, speeding, and marijuana possession.

With his character being red hot with the complaints from conservative commentators, WWE probably viewed the attention outweighing the negative press. We will find out for sure tomorrow on Raw, but it looks right now as if the arrest won’t affect Swagger facing Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29.

Undertaker returns at house show w/ pic & tout

Wrestling Legend The Undertaker returned to action at last night’s house show in Waco, Texas. He teamed with Sheamus to take on Wade Barrett and Damien Sandow.

Although unconfirmed, this seems to indicate that Taker will appear tomorrow night on Raw, and will work WrestleMania 29.

WWE released the following Tout of his entrance:

Taker won the match with a Tombstone Piledriver on Sandow.

WWE formally invites Glenn Beck to appear on Raw Monday

Following his criticism over the portrayal of WWE Superstars Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter, WWE has extended a formal invitation to talk show host and political commentator Glenn Beck to appear on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

WWE’s invitation stems from Beck’s recent segment in which he discussed the ongoing rivalry between World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, No. 1 contender Swagger and his self-styled mentor Colter. In the segment, Beck specifically directed his comments toward the character of Swagger, recently reinvented as a xenophobic “Real American” who delivers anti-immigration “State of the Union” addresses as the antagonist to the Mexican hero Del Rio. Beck inferred that Swagger’s persona, along with that of Colter as his mentor, would offend WWE’s “conservative” fan base. Beck also referenced WWE as “stupid wrestling people” in the segment, which aired Thursday on The BlazeTV.

WWE is in the entertainment business, creating characters and stories that revolve around our Superstars as well as culturally significant current events. Given Mr. Beck’s comments, WWE is formally extending an invitation to him to address our 14 million weekly viewers and global fan base — as well as the live audience of the WWE Universe — on WWE programming this Monday night. We look forward to Mr. Beck’s reply and the opportunity to have him on Raw.

RVDs 2006 arrest most similar to Swaggers

Rob Van Dam was arrested in August 2006 with 18 grams of weed and another substance in his car. His passenger, Sabu, received a $1000 fine from WWE. RVD was written off TV the following Monday and suspended for 60 days without pay. At the time, RVD was the dual ECW and WWE champion. Needless to say, he was no longer champion when he was suspended.

All things considered, this is a very similar situation to Swagger. Biggest push he’s ever had, and was arrested after a traffic stop due to possession of a controlled substance. The DUI and speeding of Swagger bring the two events into similarity, because by all accounts, Swagger had a lot less than 18 grams of weed on him.

I expect one of two things. Either Swagger gets suspended tomorrow and loses his WrestleMania World Heavyweight Championship slot, or on Monday he loses it in a match and is then suspended.

WWE may do it off air, because of the backlash they were already receiving about Swaggers character. With this event on top of that, WWE may want to just wash their hands of this for at least 30 days and let someone else have the championship spot at WM.

There is plenty of talent available for the fill in, especially with the long time period still to go before the event. It will probably be made into a triple threat, either Del Rio vs Henry vs Orton, or Del Rio vs Jericho vs Ziggler. With Jericho out of the country touring with Fozzy the next two weeks, it would be hard to explain his inclusion. They could simply have Ziggler announce he will claim the spot with his briefcase, however.

We will probably know a lot of answers tomorrow when WWE has had time to go over their options.

Breaking: Jack Swagger arrest last night for DUI, Pot, Traffic Violations

WWE star Jack Swagger was arrested last night in Mississippi, TMZ has learned — after allegedly driving under the influence … with pot in his car.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ, Swagger — real name Jacob Hager — was leaving a “Smackdown” taping at Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi when he was pulled over for speeding.

According to law enforcement, the officer who pulled him over determined Swagger was driving under the influence — and a search revealed Swagger was in possession of marijuana.

We’re told Swagger — a former WWE World Heavyweight champ — was taken in by local sheriff’s deputies … and later released on his own recognizance.

He has been charged with DUI, marijuana possession, and speeding — all misdemeanors.

We reached out to WWE, who tells TMZ, “Mr. Swagger is responsible for his own personal actions.”

Bruno Sammartino to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

Bruno Sammartino is to professional wrestling what Babe Ruth is to baseball.

The legendary grappler is the longest reigning WWE (then WWF) champion of all-time, with two title reigns spanning an eye-popping 11-plus years. And his legacy of headlining Madison Square Garden over 200 times is what turned the Italian-born brawler into a worldwide sensation.

So it’s only fitting that Sammartino will be the main attraction at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on April 6 at MSG.

“Being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Madison Square Gardens is the biggest thing in my life,” Sammartino said in an exclusive interview for ESPN Playbook. “Any time that people feel that you accomplished enough to enter into a Hall of Fame, of course this is a tremendous, tremendous thrill for me. I had a lot of my success due to appearing at the Garden. I wrestled there over 200 times, it’s where I won the title, and it’s where I picked up 630-plus pounds of Haystacks Calhoun.”

And while Sammartino had turned down the WWE’s previous offers of inducting him into its Hall of Fame due to a well-documented feud with the wrestling organization’s CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon over a wide range of issues — from Sammartino not liking the vulgar direction the product took during the Attitude Era to Sammartino’s criticism of drug abuse by members of the roster back in the 80s — it was WWE executive Paul Levesque (aka Triple H) who stepped in and finally changed the legend’s mind.

“In talking to Paul Levesque, I made it clear, I’ve had issues with WWE and wrestling in general, because there were other organizations,” Sammartino said. “I didn’t like the direction they had taken. It was bothersome to me. I’m an old-school guy. I spent 25 years in this business. But after talking to Paul, and him explaining to me the changes they’ve made in their program, and how they’ve hired a doctor like Dr. Maroon, who is a world renowned neurosurgeon, who also operated on me, and now that he has been put in charge of the company’s wellness program and their drug testing, that impressed me. I know what kind of a man he is, and he is a giant in that field, so I take my hat off to WWE because they took such huge steps to make things better for the wrestlers themselves and making sure they are healthy to perform. That was very, very important.

“But as Paul explained to me, WWE made a lot of other changes. There’s no more profanity, there’s no vulgarity in the current product, and that stuff had bothered me as well. When Paul first spoke to me and told me all the changes, I started watching it again and I was very convinced that they are doing amazing things. I see the wrestlers and all the changes they made. There’s no profanity, there’s no vulgarity, and it’s a family-friendly program. That’s what it used to be, and that’s a huge role in the whole factor.”

In finally signing Sammartino, WWE sees this as an opportunity to not only celebrate everything he has done for the business, but to add legitimacy to its Hall of Fame.

“From a legitimacy standpoint, it’s important for us to get Bruno in,” Levesque said. “He’s one of the biggest names there has ever been in the business. So for us to not have him in there, for the legitimacy of the whole thing, it was a major issue. For me, the more important thing was that nobody deserves to be recognized for being a big star and paving the way for the stars of today more than Bruno. Everything that we have today in the business, Bruno was a cornerstone of that foundation. He truly is a living legend.

“As we started getting into Hall of Fame season, it’s almost like this storyline wrote itself. To have Bruno Sammartino brought into the Hall of Fame in Madison Square Garden, a building he sold out more than anybody in the world, that’s a remarkable achievement. It was an opportunity to honor Bruno, but it was also an opportunity for our fans.

“There has been this bad blood between Bruno and the WWE for years, and we’re not trying to hide any of it, but I just felt like we are at a point where a lot of it can be resolved. Our wellness program and the way our programming is now, a lot of people are unaware of it, so I felt like if I could get Bruno on the phone and I could run down a list of those things that he didn’t like, I could show him how we changed. We’re PG, family-friendly entertainment with a wellness program that is truly based on the wellness of our performers. We want them to be healthy and live long, productive lives. So I just felt that if Bruno knew about those things, he might feel differently, and eventually, that’s what came to be.”

While Bruno has accepted the WWE’s offer to make an appearance at the Hall of Fame, he still hasn’t had the chance to speak to Vince McMahon, as Levesque is organizing a sit-down so the two can resolve any lingering issues face-to-face.

“Clearly, Vince knew about this right from the get-go, and when I said I wanted to reach out to Bruno, Vince was probably thinking, ‘Well, good luck with that,’” Levesque said. “So Bruno and I established this relationship and as we came to an understanding on all of this, Vince asked me, ‘Hey, do you think I should call Bruno? I’d like to talk to him.’ At the same time, Bruno said, ‘Do you think I should have a conversation with Vince?’ And I said no to both of them. I didn’t think it was right to do over the phone. They had bad blood for a long time, and we’ve all kind of buried the hatchet here, and it’s a new beginning and a fresh start and everybody is in a great place with this, but going back to what Bruno said about being old school, I think we should all get in the same room together and the two of them should look each other in the eyes and shake hands. This should be in person. I don’t think it’s right to do over the phone. They both agreed to do that, and while it hasn’t happened yet, Hall of Fame is probably where we’ll make that happen. Vince and Bruno will see each other for the first time in years and officially, in person, look each other in the eyes and bury that hatchet.”

As for trying to keep the announcement a secret, “it’s not ‘Mission Impossible’ or anything like that,” laughs Levesque, “but to me, Bruno getting into the Hall of Fame in Madison Square Garden is the biggest induction we’ve ever done, and rightfully so. He deserves that. So to just have it leak out there, that would’ve been wrong. This is a huge moment in time, and a massive moment for our fans, for Bruno, and for WWE. This is the history of our business. Without Bruno Sammartino, we aren’t where we are today.”

With Michaels and Undertaker both being Texas residents, the show being in Houston helps with them being available.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is also rumored to appear, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Breaking News: CM Punk has knee surgery

CM Punk surgery has learned WWE Champion CM Punk is currently undergoing surgery on his knee in Pensacola, Fla.

Last night, after Ryback drove him through a table, The Straight Edge Superstar took a late night flight to Florida for an emergency consultation with Dr. James Andrews. A review of his condition resulted in the WWE Champion’s immediate surgery today. (PHOTOS FROM RAW) will continue to report on Punk’s condition as more details become available.

No word on how this will effect Punk’s 380 day (as of today) title reign – if he will be allowed to hold onto the title until he is well enough to go, or if he will be forced to vacate it.

Probably means Ryback’s push ends.

Breaking: Mr McMahon to issue State of WWE address Monday on Raw

The WWE sent out the following tweet today:

@WWE: BREAKING: WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon to deliver #StateofWWE Address on Monday’s #Raw. Details:

With recent rumors stating Vince is very upset with the current state of Raw, could he shake things up with some changes? Or is he simply going to brag about the amount of programming they now produce each week?

With less than a month until the elections, don’t expect anything shocking. He won’t do anything to hurt Linda’s election chances.

The other side of this is that it gives CM Punk someone to interrupt this week, which may be all this is.

Shawn Daivari Chokes Beligirent Train Passenger

We would have gone with a pile driver, but his move was OK, too.

Former WWE star Shawn Daivari told TMZ that he performed an expert wrestling move and saved the day when a passenger went berserk on an airport-bound train out of Minneapolis on Thursday.

The perp reportedly threatened to kill everyone on the train and was yelling racial slurs, but Daivari wasn’t having that. He says he used a rear naked choke hold – classic move — to subdue the would-be killer.

He told the site it was all he could think to do at the time. He and other passengers had pressed an emergency button to call for help, but nobody came.

“I wasn’t going to wait any longer to see if a cop showed up,” Daivari said.

Witnesses said Daivari squeezed the violent passenger’s neck so hard he peed his pants. Then the wrestler threw the man out at the next stop.

Metro Transit Rail told TMZ that “Metro Transit police responded after being alerted by the train operator to a fight on board. The investigation is ongoing.”

Daivari left WWE in 2007 for live TNA wrestling, according to No matter what organization he’s a part of, at least he’s proven that pro wrestling is real, as some Twitter users pointed out.

Update on Lawler from family friends

The following is from

Tuesday afternoon Jerry Lawler update – friends of Jerry Lawler’s family tell PWTorch that Lawler had three stints put in Monday night following a heart attack. Lawler still has not spoken since passing out during Raw.

The latest on Jerry Lawler – including video

The story about Jerry Lawler’s heart attack and collapse last night on Raw has been covered in many major news sources this morning, and would probably be a lot more if it wasn’t the 11th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Smith Hart, Bret Hart’s brother, said last night that Lawler was ‘clinically dead’ for 20 minutes before being revived by defibrilator. Smith heard this second-hand, from an independent wrestler named Jeremy Prophet, who was backstage at Raw last night. has the following statement on its website currently:

Jerry “The King” Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal.  We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.

Here is video of Lawler being carried out. They take him into the crowd to avoid him being seen by the cameras as he was brought to the back for treatment.

Lawler’s girlfriend posted the following on her Facebook page:

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It has been confirmed that Jerry did have a heart attack…he is in stable condition and breathing on his own & heart is stable. I’m getting on the first flight out of here to be with him & will keep everyone posted. He is a strong man and we will get him back at his best as soon as I can get him home! I love you so so much baby!

Lawler had wrestled earlier in the night in a tag match with Randy Orton against the team of Dolph Ziggler and CM Punk. Orton pinned Ziggler to win the match. If it turns out that this is Lawler’s last match, not bad company to have it with.

Jerry Lawler collapses during Raw- not a storyline

WWE Hall of Famer, legend, and announcer Jerry Lawler collapsed during a match between The Prime Time Players and Kane and Daniel Bryan on the broadcast of Raw tonight from Montreal.

He was seen visibly slumped over during the match, and the competitors near him looked concerned. Michael Cole has given two updates, one that he was getting CPR and that this was ‘not part of tonight’s entertainment’ and the other that Lawler was taken to a medical center and was now breathing on his own.

Cole said that out of respect to Lawler, he would not be doing any further commentary tonight.

Cole’s third update went into much more detail, and said Lawler is much more responsive now, and awaiting a CAT scan.

More as it happens.

Pat Patterson?

Source: The Wrestling Observer

As of Saturday, the plan was not to have Pat Patterson appear live on RAW. As many of you know by now, WWE has been billing the event as “Pat Patterson Appreciation Night”. The plan is to do something similar to what they recently did with the “Shawn Michaels Appreciation Night”.

WWE Monday night RAW is being held from Patterson’s hometown of Montreal. He’s been affiliated with WWE since the late 70s when he had a run with Bob Backlund for the title. He’s also worked as a booker, announcer, agent and head of talent relations during his WWE tenure. He is also the man behind the Royal Rumble concept.

As far as Bret Hart is concerned, he will appear live on the show. The angle between CM Punk, Paul Heyman and John Cena will also continue.

Animal’s son signs $23.5m guaranteed NFL contract

James Laurinaitis, the son of WWE legend Road Warrior Animal and nephew of John Laurinaitis, has signed a 5 year extension with the St Louis Rams of the NFL worth $41.5m, with $23.5m guaranteed. In the NFL, the guaranteed number is the only important number, as contracts rarely are played out to their full length without being changed.

James was an exceptional college player for Ohio State before being signed by the Rams in 2009. He has had three very good seasons on a team that has been near the bottom of the league.

Breaking: WWE Network put on indefinite hold?

The following was reported today as an ‘exclusive’ from

WZ has learned today that plans for the WWE Network have been put on hold indefinitely. At this point, the network hasn’t a single deal signed with cable providers, and while WWE was considering making the network a pay channel, similar to HBO, internal studies have shown less than 100,000 homes would be willing to pay a monthly fee.

Additionally, WZ has learned through sources close to the head of the HR department and the VP of programming, that all hiring for the network has been frozen. In fact, we have been told any new hires that have been made for the network are in jeopardy of being terminated.

Initially, the launch was pushed to November 12th of this year, then to February of 2013, but as of this writing the network is not going forward at all. We’ve been told WWE failed to realize what a big onset and investment the network would be, and NBC Universal was going to sell WWE part of its Universal HD channel, but WWE balked and wanted its own network.

Now, with no infrastructure set up at all, we’ve been told a network would be virtually impossible to create in 6-12 months.

Raw – Heyman returns to TV

Paul Heyman returned to WWE TV at the very end of Monday’s Raw to begin associating with WWE champion C.M. Punk. Earlier in the night, Punk left Raw in a getaway car. Punk then returned at the end of the show to KO John Cena, allowing Alberto Del Rio to pin Cena in the main event. Heyman then revealed himself to be the driver of Punk’s getaway car as Raw signed off.

The show-ending developments sets up an angle to play out throughout the fall season as WWE begins head-to-head competition with Monday Night Football and fall TV programming next week.

Tyler Reks granted his WWE release

Tyler Reks (real name Gabe Tuft) has left the WWE. He posted the following statement on Facebook and Twitter.

I just want to say thank you to WWE, Inc. for allowing me to be part of an incredible entertainment experience. On Monday, I asked for my release and the company was gracious enough to grant my request.
I realized recently that being a Superstar means sacrificing certain things, including time with my family. As a new father, my heart broke every time I had to leave to go on the road. I didn’t ever want to miss another moment with my daughter, so I made the decision to be a full time dad and hang up my boots.
I will miss everyone in the locker room tremendously as they have all become a second family to me. I want to thank my coaches and teachers that really helped me along the way: Fit Finlay, Arn Anderson, Edge, Christian, Kane, Jericho, Dr. Tom, Norman Smiley, and Billy Kidman.
I also want to thank my boys. You know who you are. Especially though, a huge thank you to Hawkins. You were like a brother to me the last year and I’ll miss you and will always love you bro. I wish you the best and thanks for understanding that I had to go be a dad. When she’s older, and able to realize what happened, I know Mia will thank you as well.
Thanks to all the dedicated fans of #ReksAndHawkins and to The #RekkingCrew. I would never have survived without you.

WWE begins Scooby Doo voice-overs

WWE star The Miz revealed in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that WWE has begun voice-over work for their new co-produced Scooby Doo movie due out in 2014. “I just did voice-over work for it yesterday (earlier last week), and it was fun,” Miz said. “But, you know what is weird about that? You are doing voice-overs, and you are just standing there with a microphone. To get you into the character, like say my character was running, then I would be running in place next to the microphone. It doesn’t look that cool. But, I guarantee you that the movie will be laugh-out-loud funny and the movie seems like it will be really good. It’s going to be weird to see myself animated, although I am already pretty animated in real life.”

Report – Durst apologizes to #WWE for middle finger; #WWE issues statement

“Limp Bizkit” frontman Fred Durst was not kicked out of Staples Center following his middle-finger to the camera during WWE’s Summerslam broadcast Sunday night, according to a TMZ report. Durst reportedly left ringside to apologize to WWE…and beat the L.A. traffic out of the arena.

“We appreciate Fred’s apology,” a WWE spokesperson told TMZ. “However, we take our family-friendly environment very seriously and this was a violation of that. We sincerely apologize to our fans.” Durst tweeted about his departure, saying, “I was leaving to beat the traffic! Haha, security escorting me out?? WWE is family. hahaha. Is this really a rumor? Opening segment for post-PPV Raw

WWE released a post-Summerslam video of Paul Heyman telling WWE’s website that Brock Lesnar will kick off Monday’s three-hour Raw “answering questions” following his PPV main event victory over Triple H. Monday’s Raw is Lesnar’s last advertised TV appearance for the time being.

HBK appearing on Raw tonight?

Aries rolls Roode into a pin to try and counter but Roode kicks out and holds on to the hold. Aries fights up to his feet and out of the hold, but he gets caught in a cross body and Roode slams him into the corner into a tree of woe. Roode stomps away at Aries, wearing him down. Roode heads into the corner and Aries scores with a couple of kicks to the head and a stunner to get himself out of the tree of woe.

Both men are slow to get to their feet. Aries lays in with a couple of chops and left hands. Aries mounts Roode in the corner for a couple of punches, then drops down for an inverted atomic drop and a big clothesline that sends Roode to the floor. Roode sees a suicide dive coming and moves, so Aries heads to the top and comes off with a double sledge. Aries hits Roode with an awesome running dropkick when he’s seating in a chair in the ringside area. Aries rolls Roode back into the ring and locks in the last chancery. Roode teases tapping, but he rips at Aries’ face to break the hold. Aries takes Roode down into the crossface.

Aries cranks back but Roode is able to get to his feet and break the hold with a backbreaker. Roode takes Aries down into a crossface, but Aries doesn’t look like he’s going to give. Aries crawls toward the ropes, finally making it and forcing Roode to break the hold. Roode is frustrated, screaming at the ref. Roode hits Aries with a big forearm, then chops him hard in the corner. Aries turns things around with a big chop of his own. Aries and Roode trade lefts and rights. Roode tosses Aries to the apron. Aries hits a giant shoulderblock, then heads to the top for a huge missile dropkick.

Aries hits the corner dropkick, but Roode comes back with the spinebuster out of nowhere for two. Roode takes Aries into the corner and the two trade punches, with Roode getting the better of Aries. Roode seats Aries on the top turnbuckle and goes for the superplex, but Aries blocks it and chops Roode down to the canvas. Aries stands on the top turnbuckle and goes for the 450, but Roode gets his knees up. Roode runs in for a spear, but Aries moves and Roode wipes out the ref. Aries hits Roode with a series of right, but runs into a big spear.

Roode covers Aries and another ref comes down and counts two, Roode picks Aries up and tries for a fisherman…
buster, but Aries blocks it. Aries tries for the brainbuster, but Roode backs him into the corner and takes out the new ref. Aries connects with a kick to Roode’s head and hits the brainbuster. The first ref comes around and makes the count, counting two, but Roode kicks out!

Aries heads to the top, but Roode hits the ropes and crotches him. Roode heads up after Aries and tries for the superplex, connecting this time. Roode makes the pin and both men’s shoulders are on the mat. Both referees make the count, and both hold up either man’s hand.

There’s an argument between the two refs and Roode takes the belt and runs. Earl Hebner comes down and grab the belt from Roode. Earl consults with the refs in the ring. He hears differing reports from the refs. The match is going to restart with the original ref.

Aries dives out of the ring with the heat seeking missile, right into the belt that’s in the hands of Roode. Roode picks Aries up and drags Aries back into the ring. Roode rolls Aries into the ring and covers him but Aries still kicks out! Roode shoves the ref, but the ref shoves back. Roode picks up Aries, but Aries rolls him

WWE releases AW – But what is the real reason?

After AW (Abraham Washington) made a joke referring to Kobe Bryant and rape last week on Monday Night Raw, stating that Titus O’Neil was “like Kobe Bryant at a hotel in Colorado … he’s unstoppable.”, the fans started to wonder how he would be punished. Now we know. According to AW (real name Brian Jossie), he was fired today for that joke, terminating his contract. However, immediately after the joke, WWE (in the form of Michael Cole) issued a live apology for the statement.

A search on Google for ‘Abraham Washington’ does not pull up any main stream (non-sports or wrestling) site mentioning the joke, except for TMZ. Why is that relevant? It means there was no backlash for the joke.

WWE might have had other backstage issues with AW, and are just using the imagined backlash as a way to get him off the roster. However – it doesn’t make sense that they would let him appear twice more on TV after the joke aired.

AW has been all over his old twitter account bashing WWE, and retweeting fans and even Rikishi doing the same.

AW can be found on twitter on his old account at and his new account at

Jordan Burroughs wins Wrestling Olympic Gold

American Jordan Burroughs won the Gold Medal in the 74kg weight class in freestyle wrestling at the London 2012 Olympics.

Burroughs is undefeated in his international career, and is believed to be one of the athletes the WWE is scouting at the Games.

Jordan Burroughs goes to the Gold Medal Match

Jordan Burroughs, who is without a doubt one of the people that Mark Henry and others from the WWE are scouting at the Olympics, is in the finals of his weight class after winning his first 3 bouts today.

He competes in Freestyle Wrestling, in the 74kg weight class. If he wins the Gold, which he is the favorite to do, he would not only receive $250,000 from the ‘Living the Dream Medal Fund’, he would get major consideration at at least a tryout with the WWE. With Punk, Bryan, and Jericho all claiming their pure wrestling prowess, bringing in an Olympic champion wrestler would add an interesting twist. And with Burroughs standing only 5’8″, that puts him, size-wise, on the same sort of scale as those superstars.

Kelly Kelly Not Committed To Returning Full-Time

– Though it would appear that Kelly Kelly is back full-time with WWE following her appearance on RAW, as of a few days ago, she had not committed to a road schedule. She is only committed to working for the next two or three weeks and as an ambassador afterward.

The Rumored Royal Rumble & WrestleMania Main Events

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

WWE’s booking committee are contemplating a scenario where CM Punk would drop the WWE Championship to John Cena at SummerSlam to set up a rematch between Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at Royal Rumble.

Johnson announced at RAW 1,000 that he would face whoever the WWE Champion is at the January pay-per-view event. Johnson would defeat Cena at the Rumble and then defend the title against Punk at WrestleMania XXIX. There is that scenario and the other is that CM Punk would defeat John Cena at SummerSlam to retain his title and then go on to face The Rock at the Royal Rumble. Johnson would win the title there and then go on to face John Cena in a rematch from last year’s WrestleMania main event. As of last word, WWE didn’t want to do a Cena/Rock rematch at WrestleMania 29 so the first scenario looks more likely. Either way, The Rock, John Cena and CM Punk are the three men WWE wants involved in the angle.

Of course, plans can and likely will change but this was at least talked about during backstage meetings at RAW on Monday.

Orton not wrestling at Summerslam?

WWE star Randy Orton suggested on Twitter that he will not be appearing on the Summerslam PPV. Upon arriving in Japan for this week’s international tour, Orton fielded a series of questions, including why he’s not on the video promo for Summerslam. Orton replied, “Because unfortunately I’m not working.” Orton has yet to enter into an actual program since returning from a two-month suspension last month, which could keep him off the PPV.

Why The WWF ‘Scratch’ Logo Is No Longer Blurred By WWE

For the past ten years, video content from WWE’s “Attitude Era” (1998–2002) has been edited due to a lawsuit with the World Wide Fund over the WWF initials. All WWF “scratch” logos and references to the initials had to be blurred or edited out. This directive has now changed, at least in part.

In regards to the former “scratch” logo appearing unaltered in video packages in recent weeks, use of the symbol in flashback sequences is permitted after the organization’s legal proceedings with the World Wide Fund were settled in the last quarter. However, it is unclear whether the permission extends to complete matches and other archival footage.

Meanwhile, published a photo gallery Tuesday chronicling the long line of Presidents, Commissioners and General Managers that have ruled over sports-entertainment and a shot of Mick Foley donning a T-shirt with the WWF “scratch” logo on display is shown.

Report: Dixie Carter Looking to Bring Velvet Sky Back to TNA

TNA may not have seen the last of Velvet Sky yet, this according to a new report from PWInsider.

They claim that shortly after Velvet received her release paperwork from the company, she received a call from TNA President Dixie Carter, querying her as to what it would take to bring her back to TNA.

Although as of writing, Velvet has not signed a new deal, PWInsider says that there were people within TNA that were allegedly quite upset upon learning Sky had been officially released, citing the recent music video she had just shot through the company for Montgomery Gentry (“So Called Life”) and the time TNA had put into developing her as a personality for the company as examples.

Velvet has already accepted a number of independent bookings since her TNA release, including a match for Family Wrestling Entertainment in Brooklyn, NY, where she’ll reunite with her Beautiful People tag team partner Angelina Love, to take on Maria Kanellis and Winter.

Kevin Nash says wrestling biz died at WrestleMania 20

When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business,” he says. “Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I’m sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you’re not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That’s not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion.”

He has the same problem with today’s Internet heroes, Phil “CM Punk” Brooks and Bryan “Daniel Bryan” Danielson.

“They are not bigger than life,” he says. “I bet they could both walk through airports and not be noticed unless they have a gimmick shirt on and the belt.”

The Rosa Mendes Situation #wwe#diva

Partial Source:

– It was previously reported that Rosa Mendes was arrested for public intoxication on Sunday, but the truth of the matter is rather different. As noted earlier, TMZ reports that Mendes (real name Milena Roucka) told police that her fiancé, former WWE talent Jackson Andrews, has been abusing her and had assaulted her in Las Vegas before she flew to San Antonio for Raw.

A police report obtained by the site reports that Mendes was found by the San Antonio PD crying in a bathroom stall in San Antonio International Airport and saying that she needed help. Mendes told the police that Andrews (read name Andy Slocum) had “hit her several times at their shared residence in Las Vegas.” Mendes said she was afraid that Slocum would try to kill her and that the abuse has been ongoing. Mendes filed a battery report at 10:17 PM and police took about thirty pictures, which appeared to show bruising and scratches. The police report noted that Mendes was under the influence of alcohol.

Slocum worked in WWE as Tyson Kidd’s bodyguard for about a month and then was sent down to FCW. He was released in 2011 for breach of contract after he continually missed training sessions.

A rep for the WWE stated, “Milena Roucka contacted a WWE Talent Relations representative this morning to notify WWE that, upon her arrival in San Antonio last evening, she contacted police at the airport to report alleged domestic abuse that occurred just prior to her flight. WWE is supportive of Rosa and will provide her with professional assistance.

Four months after The Rock and John Cena clashed in the WrestleMania 28 main event, WWE reported Thursday an official WM28 buy total along with other Second Quarter business results. WWE CEO Vince McMahon said during the quarterly conference call that an announcement should be coming in the next quarterly conference call, but WWE management has said that before.

Breaking: CM Punk to speak to open Raw tonight

Via the WWE text service, CM Punk will address his actions of leaving Cena to be destroyed by The Big Show and then taking out The Rock as he saved Cena. This will open the show at 8pm.

Raw is now on its regular 3 hour program, and this will be the first without legends and segments to fill a ton of that time, so it is the first true 3 hour test.

Tonight’s show is the actual 1000th episode, as the celebration was moved up a week as to not compete with the Olympics.

Ryder says back was “messed up badly” from wheelchair spot earlier this year

WWE wrestler Zack Ryder is suggesting that the spot earlier this year when Kane threw him off the Raw stage while in a wheelchair caused physical damage. “That messed up my back pretty badly,” Ryder told the New York Daily News newspaper, which published a story on Monday’s Raw recognizing 1,000 episodes. It’s unclear if Ryder was acknowledging a legitimate injury or playing up storyline injuries.

The newspaper also interviewed The Miz and Mick Foley for the story. Miz said about Monday’s Raw, “If you’ve never seen ‘Raw,’ this is the episode to watch. You will see things you will remember for a lifetime.”

Ziggler unsure of Raw 1,000 role

Promoting Monday’s Raw when WWE recognizes 1,000 Raw episodes, WWE wrestler Dolph Ziggler told A.M. New York that he’s unsure what his role will be on the show, but he plans to make a lasting impression. “I don’t exactly know what my role will be,” Ziggler said. “When that show ends, people will say, ‘I came to see those guys (top stars & returning Legends), but I remember what Dolph Ziggler did. He went out there and did what he said he would do: He found a way to steal the show, even on a star-studded card like that.”

DDP, Evan Bourne & Randy Orton At 1,000th RAW?

Evan Bourne announced via Twitter that he won’t be on the 1,000th RAW tomorrow night, which is from his hometown in St. Louis. Bourne posted the following: Sorry friends! I won’t be in STL for the epic #raw1000 but when I DO work my way back on Raw, it will also be epic!

Randy Orton will not be at the 1,000th RAW from his hometown of St. Lois due to his current Wellness Policy suspension. He’ll be able to return at the end of the month.

– Diamond Dallas Page is being promoted as a guest on the St. Louis’ FOX affiliate morning show tomorrow. That means he’s in St. Louis for RAW so expect him to appear.

Below are some confirmed and rumored names + segments for tonight’s 1,000th episode of RAW. This is a recap of all the 1,000th RAW news we’ve posted over the past week. This is what we know so far and we’ll be updating this post leading into the show tonight:

* The show begins at 8EST and will be three-hours weekly (8-11EST) starting next week.

* WWE Title Match: CM Punk vs. John Cena.

* Intercontinental Title Match: Christian vs. ???

* DX Reunion: This will open the show at 8EST.

* Sean Waltman (X-Pac) appeared on the Cowhead show on Friday and hinted that he will be at RAW on Monday night. Waltman said, “I can’t foresee a DX reunion without X-Pac.” WWE has been contacting numerous former talents this week so it’s possible he’ll be there. He had been tweeting in recent weeks that WWE had not contacted him. All signs are now pointing to a “full” DX reunion with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Road Dogg, Billy Gunn and X-Pac all appearing. That is not confirmed just yet but it is looking more and more likely. Chyna will not be appearing for obvious reasons.

* During a recent interview with The Miami Herald, Jerry Lawler was speaking abut the origin of the “puppies” line he had used for years. While doing so, he may have announced another surprise return for Monday’s 1,000th RAW“I actually got to give credit to a guy who I think will be returning on the 1,000th episode. It was a member of DX, Road Dogg (Jesse) James. I believe he was talking to Sable at the time. DX was in the ring, and Sable was in the ring, and somehow I believe Road Dogg said, ‘Hey, show us your puppies.’ It kind of floated by. No big deal at that point and time, but then I started using the word a couple of weeks later, and it just stuck.”

* Brock Lesnar returns and will confirm his match with Triple H at SummerSlam. Paul Heyman will be there with Lesnar.

* The Rock returns to WWE to address his quest for the WWE Title. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is rumored to be contemplating competing in a match or two before WrestleMania XXIX on April 7, 2013 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. An announcement could come as soon as Monday.

* There have been rumors for months that WWE was going to be doing a big summer angle that would get people talking. There is a lot of speculation that the angle will be kicked off Monday night, likely at the end of the show. There aren’t many details going around at this time, as those within the company have been keeping tight lipped.

* Daniel Bryan and AJ will have a wedding.

* The announcement of a new permanent RAW General Manager.

* WWE Legends Bret Hart, Mick Foley and Roddy Piper are all confirmed to return.

* Roddy Piper posted the following, discussing whether or not he will appear at the 1,000th RAW“If I go to Raw’s 1000th episode I’m not doing lame work. Let me roll Vince. I’ll show them why Raw’s the longest running show!” As noted above, Piper is confirmed for next week’s show.

* Local Advertisements in St. Louis are promoting Bret Hart to appear at Monday’s 1,000th RAW. Hart was advertised a few weeks ago, but then there was no follow up. The new local ads that started to run this week pushed Hart as appearing. As noted above, Hart is confirmed for next week’s show.

* Vince and Stephanie McMahon will appear on the show. Shane McMahon is said to be a long shot and Linda McMahon probably won’t happen because of her ongoing Senate campaign trying to distance her from the WWE product. There will also be the usual “2nd tier” legends appearing as well.

* WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross discussed Monday’s RAW 1,000 show on the Sports Illustrated Hot Clicks Podcast, and what he would like to contribute to the show: “It’s kind of like a baseball player going to the All Star game in Kansas City. I’m just kind of waiting to see what the manager puts on the lineup card. I know I’m on the roster, I know I’m figured to do something, I’m just waiting to see where my name is penciled in. With an old guy like me who’s been around the horn — been weathered — there’s nothing that can be assigned that I probably haven’t already done. In a perfect world I’d love to call a match, but that’s not my call. But I’m ready to play, whatever they want me to do, I’m ready to roll.”

* As most of you know by now, WWE‘s flagship program RAW will celebrate its 1000th episode this coming Monday. During her near seven-year run, Trish Stratus participated in 160 matches-the most of any female-and created many memorable moments along the way. The legendary grappler is recalling the memories on her official website,, as she ranks her top five moments and top five matches. The quintessential Diva also offers an inside look with comments on each one of these Stratusfy-ing appearances. She ranks her match against Lita on the Dec. 6, 2004 episode of RAW, the first time in history that the Divas were solely featured in the show’s main event, as her top match. She says of the bout, “What an amazing feeling for Lita and I to be given the trust and confidence to close out our flagship show in the main event of Monday Night Raw. Plus, a true testament to the hard work of the women’s division as a whole.”

* We can confirm that both Lita and Trish Stratus have been contacted to appear at the 1,000th WWE RAW event.

* Both Stephanie McMahon and Jim Ross will be in St. Louis, Missouri next Monday, the site of that day’s unprecedented 1000th RAW episode. The WWE Hall of Famer appeared Wednesday on KREF Sports Talk 1400 The Ref and confirmed he would be on the show. He added he has no idea what his role will be. McMahon, who participated in a Twitter chat Tuesday and hinted but did not confirm an appearance on Raw, will be in the area that day for a ‘be a STAR’ the Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis’ Herbert Hoover location (2901 N. Grand Ave.). She will be joined World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, The Miz, Eve and American Idol finalist James Durbin.

* We can now exclusively confirm that The Undertaker will be appearing on Monday 1,000th RAW event. This will be the Phenom’s first appearance since WrestleMania. His role on the show will be unclear, but he will be live at the show in St. Louis.

* WWE‘s creative committee is rumored to be leaning towards CM Punk retaining the WWE Championship next Monday on RAW when John Cena is supposed to cash in his Money in the Bank contract. According to sources, there is a lot of talk within the organization that Cena will be the first person to not win a title directly after cashing in the briefcase. The feeling is that Cena is the one guy that can handle losing the cash in. They also could have The Big Show or The Rock cost Cena the match, which keeps Punk as champion and sidetracks Cena into another feud. There was also talk at RAW this week that there would be a major angle between John Cena and CM Punk next week where somehow Cena would keep his Money in the Bank briefcase. It’s almost guaranteed that this will change numerous times before RAW next week so take this with a grain of salt for now. Triple H recently directed that title reigns should be longer in order to build the importance of the belts. As you know by now, both CM Punk and Sheamus retained their titles at Money in the Bank. We noted that Cena’s Money in the Bank win was made within the last few weeks. At one point, he was going to be given the pay-per-view off.

* WWE has apparently put together a list of names they are expecting to appear on the show, but want to keep several names unadvertised. They have told these names to do “anything and everything” to keep the surprises secret including saying publicly that they will be somewhere else the night of the 1000th RAW.

* Tatanka, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, DDP, Steve Blackman, “Mean” Gene Okerlund, Vader, Doink the Clown, Bob Backlund and Sid Vicious have all also teased appearances, appeared recently, or been contacted by WWE about appearing. Expect a ton of former WWE talents to appear in addition to these names.

* Any talents who are under contract with TNA (Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Kurt Angle, etc.) will obviously NOT be appearing at the event.

* Ric Flair will likely not appear due to the ongoing TNA vs. WWE lawsuit. WWE isn’t going to risk taking any chances with TNA talents.

* The company didn’t promote Charlie Sheen as Social Media Ambassador, suggesting he will not be involved due to the fact that he quit Twitter.

* Goldberg shot down rumors that he will be at RAW next week for the 1,000th episode. When asked over Twitter by a fan, he posted: It’s not true!! RT @mrpops96: @Goldberg there are videos and rumours suggesting that you will be at Raw 1000 is it true?

* Kelly Kelly returns to WWE this week after being granted time off the road in late May. She tweeted Sunday, “On the road again. Can’t wait to see everyone at the #raw1000.” Kelly, who had been on the road on a weekly basis since joining WWE in 2006, was reportedly granted a break to spend time with her family and boyfriend. She last competed on television on the May 21 Raw SuperShow, losing to Beth Phoenix.

* The Ultimate Warrior recently addressed rumors that he would be appearing at the 1,000th RAW. On Twitter, a fan posted the following message to Warrior… hey did you hear everyone thinks you will be at ‪#RAW1000 Warrior responded with the following… I’ve never done what everyone else thinks. Never. Not once. As of last week, there were no plans to feature The Ultimate Warrior on the show. Of course, plans can change but he is not expected to appear as of this writing.

* Former WWE announcer Todd Grisham has stated that he will not be attending the 1,000th episode of RAW. The Coach will also not be at the 1,000th RAW event.

* During a Q&A session at Comic-Con last week, Dave Batista commented on a potential WWE return. Here is what he had to say… I’m not against going back. It’s just definitely not going to be this year.

* Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks have been tweeting all day about wanting to get a match on the 1,000th RAW event. The duo is asking fans to tweet about it. They have re-tweeted many responses from their followers as well.

* Stephanie McMahon, Jim Ross, Bret Hart, Rikishi, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman and Kelly Kelly have all stated that they are either in St. Louis or on their way to St. Louis for the 1,000th RAW.

* The latest on Wade Barrett’s WWE return is that he’ll be back following the SummerSlam pay-per-view. There was a rumor that he’d be appearing at the 1,000th RAW event but that doesn’t look to be happening now. Sources report that WWE creative already has a plan in place for him when he returns.

* Evan Bourne announced via Twitter that he won’t be on the 1,000th RAW tomorrow night, which is from his hometown in St. Louis. Bourne posted the following: Sorry friends! I won’t be in STL for the epic #raw1000 but when I DO work my way back on Raw, it will also be epic!

The WWE Hall of Famer may have spoiled the payoff of Heath Slater’s returning RAW legend angle while addressing rumors of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin‘s involvement with the program—who has not been announced to appear by WWE but is expected to be there. When asked whether The Rattlesnake will encounter Slater on the show, Animal responded, “Austin will definitely give him the stunner, ya know thats coming! Fans get ready, you’re gonna see a stunner!” Animal, who appeared on RAW in 1997 and 1998, also confirmed that he will be on hand for the festivities: “I will be making an appearance…people will see that my spikes from SmackDown were excellently repainted! If it happens it happens, I’m ready!” On what else to expect for the unprecedented show, he said, “It’s gonna be star studded, on my flight alone is me, DDP and Bret “Hitman” Hart!”

* WWE Senior VP of Digital Operations Jason Hoch says that WWE‘s audience will have a say in character and storyline development. Hoch told in an interview that the RawActive social media initiative that starts Monday on RAW will allow the audience to “get a say in what happens next by deciding matches, stipulations, and character development. They can control if a general manager gets fired or who their favorite Superstar’s next opponent will be.”

* WWE Diva AJ Lee was a guest on Mark Madden’s radio show last week to promote tomorrow night’s 1,000th RAW event. The show airs on 105.9 “The X” in Pittsburgh, PA. Vince McMahon Speaks Out – He Hates Sleep, Listening, More is featuring an interview with Vince McMahon where he talks about a variety of topics including hating sleep and job interviews.

On hating sleep: ”I average about four hours of sleep. I don’t like to sleep. I’m missing something when I’m sleeping. From a personal standpoint, I’m aggressive by nature and I’m truculent by nature. So I need to have a socially acceptable outlet for that. That would be bodybuilding. I enjoy that. It’s a challenge to be stronger. I get a lot of enjoyment by training. Nutrition goes with it. I train for my head—not my body. The ancillary benefits are that I’m healthy as a horse. It really does clear my head. It’s an opportunity to wash anything from my head, business-wise or personal. That’s my moment when I can get into a zone.”

On why you should avoid BS answers when interviewing with WWE:“My first question is: Why do you want to work with WWE? They don’t have to know WWE, by the way. They don’t have to be fans. Sometimes that gets in the way. If they give me a boilerplate answer, I look at them and I say, ‘That’s a boilerplate answer. It’s not what I’m looking for.’ I’m very straightforward and very honest with people. That’s what I want back. Don’t tell how to make the watch—tell me what time it is. Be honest. It cuts through a lot of crap. People know where they stand. They know where you stand. Life becomes a lot easier.”

On listening to his employees: “You can’t say, ‘Go do so-and-so,’ unless you’re willing to do it. You can’t ask someone to put in a zillion hours unless you’re willing to go do it. You can’t ask anyone to have a passion for a product unless you have it. Listening is a lost art. I have a unique ability to listen to myself as I’m talking. That’s somewhat unique, but I think that to listen is to learn. I think some of things begin from a natural standpoint, and you’ve got to work at them. You’ve got to let it evolve.”

On making decisions: “Once you make a decision, you go with it, and everyone gets behind it. There’s no second-guessing. One of my expressions is, ‘First day on the job.’ That’s the way I like our executives to look at our business every day and what they do. When you do that, then it either confirms that what you did yesterday is the right way—or it’s, like, ‘Ooh, now that I have this new information. … There’s this new form of media, there’s a new way of thinking of things, you know, or I read a book last night, I read something in the newspaper ….’ Bringing that degree of intelligence and flexibility into the organization is very, very important.”

On how he’s been successful in business: “Certainly the best way to fail in management [is to be distant and imperious]. You shut people down. If you have all the answers, why is anyone around you? If your ego is so big, then there’s no room for anyone else’s. The fear stuff—that is so rotten. You have to earn everyone’s respect. I have to do it every day. Sometimes I leave the office and I feel great. In military terms, I’ve got ‘scrambled eggs on my cap.’ I’ve got medals dripping off my chest. When I wake up in the morning, they’re all gone. You have to earn everyone’s respect in business every day.”

On decision making: “Indecision ticks me off, but complacency would be the biggest thing. I don’t take anything for granted. There’s no entitlement. I’m not entitled to take my next breath. I will never be complacent. If I climb a mountain, I want to see the next highest peak. Encourage employees by giving them other opportunities. I think if you see complacency, you say from an HR standpoint, ‘We find that you’re becoming complacent.’ So as a quality I don’t like, that’s strike one. Strike two is if they can’t change—if they can’t look at it as the first day on the job. Sometimes people need a kick in the butt for themselves—personally or professionally. Strike three is when it doesn’t work.”

As noted earlier here on the website, The Associated Press is reporting that Linda McMahon has released her tax returns for 2010 show that she earned $30.6 million in 2010 along with her husband Vince McMahon. Linda also plans to release her 2011 returns. The article noted that a “vast majority” of the income came from stock dividends.

‘Eugene’ Gets A TNA Tryout After Defending WWE

Nick Dinsmore, who appeared as the beloved character “Eugene” for WWE for several years, competed in a dark match prior to Thursday’s live iMPACT! Wrestling broadcast on Spike TV. Under the Nick Dinsmore name, he lost to TNA Wrestling veteran talent Kazarian.

Dinsmore has ties to TNA as he works as a trainer and wrestler for developmental promotion Ohio Valley Wrestling and also appeared as the character “Dr. Nicholas Dinsmore” for their Indian-based satellite promotion Ring Ka King last year.

Dinsmore’s appearance comes days after he “stood up for WWE” in response to negative media portrayals toward the Eugene character and the sports entertainment organization. Darien Times writer Joshua Fisher stated in an editorial last week blistering Linda McMahon’s United States Senate campaign that her job creation method included “making fun of retarded men” during her reign as WWE CEO, which spurred Colin McEnroe of the Hartford Courant to assert in an editorial that the Eugene character was “mentally retarded” and “unmistakably, played for laughs.”

WWE then issued a statement “setting the record straight” regarding its programming and storylines: “It is clear, based on Mr. McEnroe’s latest blog post, that he does not understand WWE’s programming. Like Hollywood movies and Broadway shows, it is an exciting blend of action, characters and fictional storylines of good versus evil that entertains millions weekly. His assertion that the Eugene character was “essentially a comic device” is inaccurate and lacks total perspective.”

In their statement, WWE enclosed a video of Dinsmore offering a “truthful portrayal” of Eugene where he argued that the character is an underdog who “always came out on top” and “overcame adversities.”

Here is the full article that we posted the other day here on the website: has posted a response on their website in which they responded to a negative blog written by Colin McEnroe of the Hartford Courant who slammed the company for the mentally challenged character Eugene, who appeared for the company from 2004 to 2007, and once in 2009.

Darien Times writer Joshua Fisher slammed Linda McMahon’s US Senate campaign that her job creation method including making fun of the mentally handicapped.

He then posted a video and wrote: “Eugene is a mentally retarded WWE character who is, unmistakably, played for laughs. In [the following video], we see him strolling a stadium corner, ogling a skin mag and sporting a huge “my name is Eugene” name tag. He walks into the women’s locker room and “hilarity” ensues. Entirely at his expense. In its latest “how dare you” letter to a Connecticut newspaper, the WWE argues that Eugene is an underdog who repeatedly triumphs. Maybe. That does not change the fact that his mental retardation is essentially a comic device.

If a video like the one above-linked or the one below surfaced in connection with any other campaign, the candidate would have some serious ‘splainin’ to do. Somehow, because she is associated with so many hundreds of dehumanizing videos, Linda McMahon is inoculated against the shame of any one of them. The thing to remember is that, solely on the strength of a career of spewing out this boorish dross, she claims to deserve one of this nation’s 100 Senate seats.”

He also posted another video of Eugene telling Diva Search contestant Carmella DeCesare “I want to see her boobies!” on a 2004 episode of RAW.

WWE responded: “It is clear, based on Mr.

WWE then posted a video of Nick Dinsmore who offered a “truthful portrayal” of the character. The WWE added: “We will continue to implore the media to make accurate descriptions of our characters and storylines versus taking sound bites, scenes and footage out of context that mischaracterizes WWE’s content.”

Dinsmore said in the video:

Hi, my name is Nick Dinsmore, and for five years I had the privilege of playing a character on WWE television, Eugene.

The character Eugene was unique in the fact that he was a person with special needs. The WWE has and continues to showcase a wide variety of characters and a fictious WWE Universe. This WWE Universe comes to you each and every week and entertains millions and millions of fans.

When I was playing the role of Eugene, I wanted to display a character that had not only special needs, but incredible qualities; honesty, strength, very playful, quite naïve at times. But my favorite quality was his heart and desire. He went after his dreams and achieved at any cost and didn’t let anything stand in his way.

Once the fans started to see that he could live his dream, he was winning championships, he was meeting his idols, more and more people cheered for Eugene and wanted to see him succeed. No different than in the movie Forrest Gump when he started to do good for himself, everybody cheered him on, everybody wanted him to do better. Eugene’s no different and the people treated him the same way, they wanted to see him succeed. I’m proud that I got to portray a true hero.

Eugene had a lot of forces, a lot of “bad guys” against him. Probably the meanest, nastiest, dirtiest, devious of them all was the sinister character Mr. McMahon. But even with all those forces against him, Eugene always came out on top—even pinned Mr. McMahon one time.

I’m proud to have been a part of the WWE, an organization that has the commitment to individuals with special needs. WWE is a proud supporter of The Arc (the world’s largest community-based organization of and for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities),
Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Special Olympics.

Nobody ever really came up to me and said, “Oh you’re doing a bad thing, oh, I can’t believe you did this.” If anything, I got a lot of positive affirmation. I met several people with special needs and without a doubt, they would always run to me and just want to hug me. That one instance for them to be able to meet what I hope would be their hero is a little bit indescribable and is an incredible feeling.

Characters like that have to overcome adversities and face everyday challenges, and they always come out on top.

It’s Hollywood, where the good guys always win!

WO Reports on FCW talent

According to the Wrestling Observer, three FCW women are viewed as having major main roster potential.

The three in question are:

  • Ivelisse Velez (ring name Sofia Cortez) who was on last years Tough Enough

  • Britani Knight (ring name Paige) an independent wrestler from England

The report goes on to say that Paige could be ‘the future of the divas division.

The Observer also says that Triple H is very high on Michael McGillicutty, who is Curt ‘Mr Perfect’ Hennig’s son, Joe.

Hulk Hogan accuses Northeast Wrestling of deception

TNA authority figure Hulk Hogan accused the Northeast Wrestling promotion of being “deceptive” in advertising him for their September 22 show in New York. Hogan, who is listed as the headline act for the event, tweeted Thursday night, “Northeastwrestling on oww forums is very deceptive,I never signed to wrestle for any of these independents, won’t be there on Sept 22. HH.” Hogan’s tweet goes against the most-recent tweet from NEW on Wednesday, which reads: “Hulk Hogan’s surgery went well and he will be ready for Sept. 22nd in Fishkill, N.Y.”

NEW is now announcing adding Roddy Piper to the show.

On a personal note, this is disappointing, since I was planning on attending the event.

Cena settles divorce agreement with ex-wife

According to TMZ:

John Cena‘s divorce nightmare has come to an end … in fact, the two sides have agreed to bury the hatchet … TMZ has learned.

As we previously reported, Elizabeth Huberdeau felt like she was blindsided when Cena  unexpectedly filed to end their 3-year marriage back in May.

Things got nasty … quickly … with Liz making moves to challenge the couple’s prenup. Liz also said she believed Cena was messing around with other women behind her back.

But now, Liz’s attorney, Raymond Rafool, tells TMZ the two have managed to work things out privately … saying, “All matters [in the divorce] have been settled and resolved amicably.”

The terms of the settlement are confidential.

So far, no comment from Cena’s camp.

TNA signs Chavo Guerrero Jr

TNA announced today that they have signed former WWE wrestler and brother of Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero Jr to a contract. They released the following video of Chavo.

Matt Morgan changes his Twitter handle

He has previously stated that he is deciding between WWE and TNA, this probably means TNA isn’t his choice. But does it mean WWE will take him? We will have to wait and see.
