Wrestlemania 29 Predictions

Our predictions for tonight:
Rock vs Cena
Triple H vs Brock Lesnar
Del Rio vs Swagger
Orton, Sheamus, & Show vs The Shield
Barrett vs Miz
Ryback vs Mark Henry
Hell No vs Team AJ
Jericho vs Fandango
Tons of Funk + Funkadaclys vs Rhodes Scholars + Bella Twins
vs Punk

Two title changes: The WWE and Tag Team titles. Cena gets help winning. This will either turn him heel or start a slow heel turn for him.

I believe, without Bearer’s death, Punk was going to win and break the streak. The way they’ve built it, though, I can’t see Taker losing.

In anticipation for WrestleMania 29, we’ve put together a huge compilation of all the rumors surrounding the event

In anticipation for WrestleMania 29, we’ve put together a huge compilation of all the rumors surrounding the event. Enjoy!
Rumors for the Day:
From http://www.cagesideseats.com/
Rumors have been popping up recently that the trio of Dolph Ziggler, Big E Langston, and AJ Lee could be in for a sizable push following WrestleMania 29. Ziggler and Langston have a match set at WrestleMania against Team Hell No for the tag team titles and, of course, Ziggler still carries the Money in the Bank briefcase for a guaranteed shot at the world heavyweight championship. Despite this, there is some doubt that Ziggler and Langston will come away with any of the aforementioned titles at the event itself. Early advertising for May’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view has Alberto Del Rio taking on Jack Swagger in a submission match, so it is unlikely that Ziggler cashes in to the take the world heavyweight title out of that picture. Additionally, the tag team division is still lacking a quality “face” team behind Team Hell No. This was rumored to be a reason that Team Rhodes Scholars never got to take the titles away from Hell No. Tons of Funk may be being built up as such a team, and they are expected to defeat the Rhodes Scholars and Bella twins in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania, so perhaps they will become the foil to Ziggler and Langston in the event they take the titles. Regardless, this is a situation worth keeping an eye on.
John Cena recently gave an interview to NorthJersey.com. In it, he basically says a heel turn won’t be happening anytime soon, or possibly ever. Granted, it could be an elaborate work, but as with any rumor hinting at any changes to Cena’s “superhero babyface underdog” character, it’s best to wait and see before getting too excited. Previous rumors indicated that Cena may be an “edgier” character following the event, however.
Speaking of interviews, CM Punk also gave one to ESPN.com. One interesting nugget of information there is that Punk doesn’t believe that WWE has any type of “locker room leader” like Undertaker used to be back in the day. Specifically:
“I’m not really sure anybody could fill Taker’s shoes, and I don’t think anybody is trying to, either. God help us all if I’m the leader, but when you look around the landscape, there’s really nobody else besides myself and John Cena. That’s about it.”
Yesterday, we mentioned that 2012 WWE Hall of Fame class headliner, Edge, would not be attending this weekend’s festivities. Some of the past WWE greats who are expected to attend include: Bret Hart, Tommy Dreamer, Mil Mascaras, Dos Caras, Diamond Dallas Page, and Jake Roberts.
One rumored reason as to why U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro doesn’t have a WrestleMania 29 match is because WWE was planning to have Sin Cara challenge for the title. (This is why Sin Cara defeated Cesaro several weeks ago on Main Event.) Sin Cara, however, suffered a concussion in a match against Jack Swagger and was not cleared to wrestle until early last week.
While this year’s WrestleMania has been blasted by critics for being too predictable, WWE may still have a few tricks up their sleeve to keep things interesting. Rumors abound of several possible heel turns at the event. In particular, major speculation is surrounding Ryback as a possible candidate to turn heel. There is also speculation that he may feud with John Cena for the WWE title following the event, using his elimination by Cena at January’s Royal Rumble as a basis.
Despite his advanced age (48) and countless injuries and surgeries (include two on his hip and shoulder since last year’s WrestleMania,) Undertaker appears to be in excellent shape according to backstage sources. He reportedly returned 30 pounds overweight but has been working since then to lose the weight and improve his conditioning.
If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you’d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Please remember, these are merely rumors. Try not to take them too seriously, just have fun with them.WRe

The Undertaker will return on tonight’s ‘Old School’ Raw.

Donald Trump announced for WWE Hall of Fame

On Saturday, April 6, 2013, real estate mogul, best-selling author and perennial thorn in Mr. McMahon’s side Donald Trump will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame alongside Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Bob Backlund and Trish Stratus in Madison Square Garden. (TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW)

“Donald is a global icon whose status brought an unmatched level of publicity and grandeur to WWE,” WWE Chairman and CEO Mr. McMahon said.

The star and co-producer of the hit NBC series, “The Apprentice” — which premieres its 13th season on Sunday, March 3 — Trump has been a key figure in WWE since 1988 when his Trump Plaza hosted WrestleMania IV. The following year, WrestleMania V emanated from the same building, making it the first venue to present consecutive Show of Shows. (TRUMP’S FULL PROFILE)

The Donald’s most lasting impact on WWE occurred at WrestleMania 23 when he put his famous head of hair on the line against Mr. McMahon’s mane in a “Battle of the Billionaires.” A record number of viewers tuned in to see Trump back Bobby Lashley to victory over Mr. McMahon’s Umaga and then shave The Chairman’s head in front of more than 80,000 WWE fans.

“It was literally the thrill of a lifetime performing in front of 80,000 enthusiastic fans during the ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ match at WrestleMania 23,” Donald Trump said.

Trump wasn’t done with Mr. McMahon just yet as he returned in 2009 to purchase Monday Night Raw from his rival. The following week, The Donald presented the show commercial-free and gave every fan in attendance a full refund. Mr. McMahon was so incensed with Trump’s actions that he was cornered into buying his program back for twice the price. (PHOTOS OF TRUMP)

“I’ve always enjoyed and respected WWE’s brand of entertainment and look forward to the ceremony in my hometown at Madison Square Garden,” the Chairman and President of The Trump Organization said.

Want to be there when The Donald enters the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6? Tickets for the Induction Ceremony are on sale now and available at the MSG box office, online at Ticketmaster.com and various Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. Ticket prices range from $50 to $150.

Swagger works Waco house show

At the same event that Undertaker made his in-ring return to WWE, Jack Swagger won a match with ‘The Human Botch Machine’ Sin Cara. This was despite him being taken off the show originally following his arrest on DUI, speeding, and marijuana possession.

With his character being red hot with the complaints from conservative commentators, WWE probably viewed the attention outweighing the negative press. We will find out for sure tomorrow on Raw, but it looks right now as if the arrest won’t affect Swagger facing Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29.

Undertaker returns at house show w/ pic & tout

Wrestling Legend The Undertaker returned to action at last night’s house show in Waco, Texas. He teamed with Sheamus to take on Wade Barrett and Damien Sandow.

Although unconfirmed, this seems to indicate that Taker will appear tomorrow night on Raw, and will work WrestleMania 29.

WWE released the following Tout of his entrance:

Taker won the match with a Tombstone Piledriver on Sandow.

RVDs 2006 arrest most similar to Swaggers

Rob Van Dam was arrested in August 2006 with 18 grams of weed and another substance in his car. His passenger, Sabu, received a $1000 fine from WWE. RVD was written off TV the following Monday and suspended for 60 days without pay. At the time, RVD was the dual ECW and WWE champion. Needless to say, he was no longer champion when he was suspended.

All things considered, this is a very similar situation to Swagger. Biggest push he’s ever had, and was arrested after a traffic stop due to possession of a controlled substance. The DUI and speeding of Swagger bring the two events into similarity, because by all accounts, Swagger had a lot less than 18 grams of weed on him.

I expect one of two things. Either Swagger gets suspended tomorrow and loses his WrestleMania World Heavyweight Championship slot, or on Monday he loses it in a match and is then suspended.

WWE may do it off air, because of the backlash they were already receiving about Swaggers character. With this event on top of that, WWE may want to just wash their hands of this for at least 30 days and let someone else have the championship spot at WM.

There is plenty of talent available for the fill in, especially with the long time period still to go before the event. It will probably be made into a triple threat, either Del Rio vs Henry vs Orton, or Del Rio vs Jericho vs Ziggler. With Jericho out of the country touring with Fozzy the next two weeks, it would be hard to explain his inclusion. They could simply have Ziggler announce he will claim the spot with his briefcase, however.

We will probably know a lot of answers tomorrow when WWE has had time to go over their options.

Breaking: Jack Swagger arrest last night for DUI, Pot, Traffic Violations

WWE star Jack Swagger was arrested last night in Mississippi, TMZ has learned — after allegedly driving under the influence … with pot in his car.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ, Swagger — real name Jacob Hager — was leaving a “Smackdown” taping at Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi when he was pulled over for speeding.

According to law enforcement, the officer who pulled him over determined Swagger was driving under the influence — and a search revealed Swagger was in possession of marijuana.

We’re told Swagger — a former WWE World Heavyweight champ — was taken in by local sheriff’s deputies … and later released on his own recognizance.

He has been charged with DUI, marijuana possession, and speeding — all misdemeanors.

We reached out to WWE, who tells TMZ, “Mr. Swagger is responsible for his own personal actions.”

Bruno Sammartino to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

Bruno Sammartino is to professional wrestling what Babe Ruth is to baseball.

The legendary grappler is the longest reigning WWE (then WWF) champion of all-time, with two title reigns spanning an eye-popping 11-plus years. And his legacy of headlining Madison Square Garden over 200 times is what turned the Italian-born brawler into a worldwide sensation.

So it’s only fitting that Sammartino will be the main attraction at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on April 6 at MSG.

“Being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Madison Square Gardens is the biggest thing in my life,” Sammartino said in an exclusive interview for ESPN Playbook. “Any time that people feel that you accomplished enough to enter into a Hall of Fame, of course this is a tremendous, tremendous thrill for me. I had a lot of my success due to appearing at the Garden. I wrestled there over 200 times, it’s where I won the title, and it’s where I picked up 630-plus pounds of Haystacks Calhoun.”

And while Sammartino had turned down the WWE’s previous offers of inducting him into its Hall of Fame due to a well-documented feud with the wrestling organization’s CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon over a wide range of issues — from Sammartino not liking the vulgar direction the product took during the Attitude Era to Sammartino’s criticism of drug abuse by members of the roster back in the 80s — it was WWE executive Paul Levesque (aka Triple H) who stepped in and finally changed the legend’s mind.

“In talking to Paul Levesque, I made it clear, I’ve had issues with WWE and wrestling in general, because there were other organizations,” Sammartino said. “I didn’t like the direction they had taken. It was bothersome to me. I’m an old-school guy. I spent 25 years in this business. But after talking to Paul, and him explaining to me the changes they’ve made in their program, and how they’ve hired a doctor like Dr. Maroon, who is a world renowned neurosurgeon, who also operated on me, and now that he has been put in charge of the company’s wellness program and their drug testing, that impressed me. I know what kind of a man he is, and he is a giant in that field, so I take my hat off to WWE because they took such huge steps to make things better for the wrestlers themselves and making sure they are healthy to perform. That was very, very important.

“But as Paul explained to me, WWE made a lot of other changes. There’s no more profanity, there’s no vulgarity in the current product, and that stuff had bothered me as well. When Paul first spoke to me and told me all the changes, I started watching it again and I was very convinced that they are doing amazing things. I see the wrestlers and all the changes they made. There’s no profanity, there’s no vulgarity, and it’s a family-friendly program. That’s what it used to be, and that’s a huge role in the whole factor.”

In finally signing Sammartino, WWE sees this as an opportunity to not only celebrate everything he has done for the business, but to add legitimacy to its Hall of Fame.

“From a legitimacy standpoint, it’s important for us to get Bruno in,” Levesque said. “He’s one of the biggest names there has ever been in the business. So for us to not have him in there, for the legitimacy of the whole thing, it was a major issue. For me, the more important thing was that nobody deserves to be recognized for being a big star and paving the way for the stars of today more than Bruno. Everything that we have today in the business, Bruno was a cornerstone of that foundation. He truly is a living legend.

“As we started getting into Hall of Fame season, it’s almost like this storyline wrote itself. To have Bruno Sammartino brought into the Hall of Fame in Madison Square Garden, a building he sold out more than anybody in the world, that’s a remarkable achievement. It was an opportunity to honor Bruno, but it was also an opportunity for our fans.

“There has been this bad blood between Bruno and the WWE for years, and we’re not trying to hide any of it, but I just felt like we are at a point where a lot of it can be resolved. Our wellness program and the way our programming is now, a lot of people are unaware of it, so I felt like if I could get Bruno on the phone and I could run down a list of those things that he didn’t like, I could show him how we changed. We’re PG, family-friendly entertainment with a wellness program that is truly based on the wellness of our performers. We want them to be healthy and live long, productive lives. So I just felt that if Bruno knew about those things, he might feel differently, and eventually, that’s what came to be.”

While Bruno has accepted the WWE’s offer to make an appearance at the Hall of Fame, he still hasn’t had the chance to speak to Vince McMahon, as Levesque is organizing a sit-down so the two can resolve any lingering issues face-to-face.

“Clearly, Vince knew about this right from the get-go, and when I said I wanted to reach out to Bruno, Vince was probably thinking, ‘Well, good luck with that,’” Levesque said. “So Bruno and I established this relationship and as we came to an understanding on all of this, Vince asked me, ‘Hey, do you think I should call Bruno? I’d like to talk to him.’ At the same time, Bruno said, ‘Do you think I should have a conversation with Vince?’ And I said no to both of them. I didn’t think it was right to do over the phone. They had bad blood for a long time, and we’ve all kind of buried the hatchet here, and it’s a new beginning and a fresh start and everybody is in a great place with this, but going back to what Bruno said about being old school, I think we should all get in the same room together and the two of them should look each other in the eyes and shake hands. This should be in person. I don’t think it’s right to do over the phone. They both agreed to do that, and while it hasn’t happened yet, Hall of Fame is probably where we’ll make that happen. Vince and Bruno will see each other for the first time in years and officially, in person, look each other in the eyes and bury that hatchet.”

As for trying to keep the announcement a secret, “it’s not ‘Mission Impossible’ or anything like that,” laughs Levesque, “but to me, Bruno getting into the Hall of Fame in Madison Square Garden is the biggest induction we’ve ever done, and rightfully so. He deserves that. So to just have it leak out there, that would’ve been wrong. This is a huge moment in time, and a massive moment for our fans, for Bruno, and for WWE. This is the history of our business. Without Bruno Sammartino, we aren’t where we are today.”

Twice in a Lifetime. Four times as predictable.

John Cena will defeat WWE Champion The Rock at WrestleMania 29 at MetLife Stadium on April 7th to become the new WWE Champion and end their more than two year feud.

The Rumored Royal Rumble & WrestleMania Main Events

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

WWE’s booking committee are contemplating a scenario where CM Punk would drop the WWE Championship to John Cena at SummerSlam to set up a rematch between Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at Royal Rumble.

Johnson announced at RAW 1,000 that he would face whoever the WWE Champion is at the January pay-per-view event. Johnson would defeat Cena at the Rumble and then defend the title against Punk at WrestleMania XXIX. There is that scenario and the other is that CM Punk would defeat John Cena at SummerSlam to retain his title and then go on to face The Rock at the Royal Rumble. Johnson would win the title there and then go on to face John Cena in a rematch from last year’s WrestleMania main event. As of last word, WWE didn’t want to do a Cena/Rock rematch at WrestleMania 29 so the first scenario looks more likely. Either way, The Rock, John Cena and CM Punk are the three men WWE wants involved in the angle.

Of course, plans can and likely will change but this was at least talked about during backstage meetings at RAW on Monday.

Spike TV Goes Dark On DirecTV

All of Viacom’s channels, including Spike TV, have now gone dark on DirecTV. The two companies failed to get an agreement worked out regarding carriage fees, meaning that Spike, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, VH1, CMT and other channels have become unavailable for DirecTV customers. The previous contract expired over the weekend.

“We have absolutely no problem compensating Viacom fairly, but they have now knowingly put our customers in the unreasonable position of either accepting their extravagant financial demands or losing some of their favorite TV shows,” said DirecTV EVP Derek Chang. “We feel our customers should not have to pay more for these networks than the customers of any other TV provider. We reiterated this to Viacom today and have not heard back from them.”

DirecTV added that Viacom demanded the channels get taken down and said, “We asked Viacom to allow us to keep the channels up while we continue to negotiate, but they refused. We’re working diligently on a new agreement to keep making these channels available at a fair price to our customers.”

There is no word on when the agreement might come or if the channels will come back by Thursday for Impact.

The Rock-WWE Issues At WrestleMania 29?

The Rock said during a Q&A session on his Twitter that G.I. Joe: Retaliation’s recent release date move could limit his WWE appearances for promoting WrestleMania 29. Check out the highlights from the Q&A:

On the film’s impact to his WrestleMania appearances: “It may, bud. Not sure right now. We’re all trying to work it out though.”

On whether he would accept a potential challenge from Brock Lesnar: “I loved wrestling Brock Lesnar. We had epic matches. He’s my good bud and one of meanest SOB’s walking. #RockTalk.”

On who he would have liked to have wrestled but never did: “Would’ve loved to have wrestled Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage. I idolized his in ring work & mic skills. What charisma.. #RockTalk.”

Plans for Christian’s Return

Christian did not return at this past Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown tapings, despite being advertised. Look for him to return once the Extreme Rules pay-per-view has finished. Christian is booked to be put in the World Heavyweight Title picture with Sheamus and Daniel Bryan.

Mick Foley: Putting Over Dean Ambrose Is ‘Bullsh*t’

The feud between Mick Foley and Dean Ambrose continues online but according to Foley, it’s over. Foley has written a new blog about Ambrose on his official website. Here’s part of what he wrote:

“Let me state for the record that I have only spoken to FCW prospect Dean Ambrose on three different occasions. Following his match on a WWE house show on Long Island, I went out of my way to tell him I had enjoyed his match. The skills and unique qualities qualities he posseses might very well make him a force to be reckoned with somewhere down the line. He has supporters in lofty places who feel he might be a huge asset to WWE for a decade or more in the future. I’m also told that his interviews ( “promos” as we call them) are compelling, intelligent and emotional; every bit as good as the top guys in WWE.

My second conversation with Mr Ambrose got quite a bit of attention. I know there has been alot of speculation as to the nature of this conversation. To me, it was whatever anyone wanted it to be; a shoot, a work, or somewhare in the middle – as almost all compelling pieces in sports-entertainment ultimately are.

I’m far more concerned with my third conversation with the guy. Look, Ive been accused from time to time of taking some things in the business a little too seriously. Maybe I do. But like that sailor-man of old, “I am what I am, and that’s all that I am.” After all these years, there are some things that just bother me. Remember that “Cane Dewey” promo from 1995 that so many are still fond of? It actually came from a very heavy place in my heart, when my wife impressed on me just how sick it was for any fan to be making a sign advocating the beating (even in jest) of my 3 year-old child.

That’s the immediate feeling I got when I actually read the Dean Ambrose tweet that mentioned his dream to seeing me no longer able to make a dime in the wrestling business – with a particularly nasty mention of how he wanted to see my home repossesed and my children starved. Maybe the 1995 Cactus Jack would have cut a promo on the guy. The 2102 Mick Foley just wonders what would make something say something so stupid, heartless and ignorant. I felt Dean Ambrose had crossed a line that shouldn’t be crossed, so took the opportunity before the Hampton, Virginia Smackdown to ask/tell him to please stop crossing a line that I wasn’t comfortable with. Ric Flair had once asked a similar consideration of me before a memorable promo we shared in New Jersey in 2006. Of course I honored his request. Ours is a business built on trust and respect. I thought Dean Ambrose understood this. But less than a day after making my request, I saw that my children were once again the subject of his tweets – a reference to how I might feel differently about something if my children were in wheel-chairs. Maybe I would have cut a heck of a promo about it in 1995. Seventeen years later, I just wanted to get the fuck away from the whole scenario. It’s not fun, it’s not cutting edge. It just sucks.

Sports-entertainment has to involve a certain ammount of respect and trust. It’s pretty obvious Dean Ambrose doesn’t have any respect for me, my requests, or what I have done in the wrestling business. Therefore I can’t place the slightest ammount of trust in him. Has anyone wondered if I’m feeling better following the concussion I spoke of in that December 2010 TNA Impact promo with Flair? I’m not feeling too much better. I tend to have two types of days when it comes to that muted, under-water feeling I spoke of in that promo – bad and worse. I’m just not the same guy who took 11 chair shots from the Rock in 1999. I haven’t been that guy in a long time. Given my history of concussions, I would have to be a fool to place my future in the hands of someone I don’t trust. Perhaps I do have another decent match left in me. If so, it will be with a guy like Dolph Ziggler, who might well be the best worker in the business, and just needs that ONE little something to allow the WWE Universe to see how talented he really is. Or a guy like the Miz – one of the best heels of this generation. Say what you want to about Miz, but the guy is damn good at what he does.

But Dean Ambrose? No. I may not have the power I once did in the business, but I still have the power to say no to things that just flat-out seem wrong. Like trying to put Dean Ambrose on the WWE map. A few weeks ago, it seemed like an interesting challenge. Now, it seems like an insult. A few weeks ago, it seemed like cutting-edge stuff. Now it just seems like bullshit. He is a very good talent. He has those supporters in high places. Let them wrestle him. Maybe they can put him on the WWE map. Good luck.”

The Rock tweets WrestleMania buyrate

The Rock has just tweeted that WrestleMania 28 did 1.3 million buys, stating:

@TheRock: WRESTLEMANIA 28 sets all time record. 1.3 million PPV buys. $67 million one day gross. BIGGEST MATCH OF ALL TIME. #MyHonor

This is far from the 1.9m that had been rumored earlier, but is in line with WWE expectations going into the event.

The Undertaker’s WWE Future

At WrestleMania XXVIII, The Undertaker and Triple H met inside Hell in a Cell in a bout that was branded as “the end of an era.” The latest issue of WWE Magazine, which features The Undertaker on the cover, plays up the “the end of an era” storyline as they ask “Will The Deadman Rise Again?”

Despite speculation that The Undertaker’s match may have been his last, many WWE employees now believe he is able to compete in a few more matches and will almost certainly work WrestleMania XXIX. This belief is based on The Undertaker appearing less injured following his WrestleMania outing compared to the prior year’s.

Daniel Bryan Interview from GQ

This year’s Wrestlemania started with a bang that felt like a whimper. For the past few months, Daniel Bryan had held the World Heavyweight Championship in true asshole bad-guy fashion, beating larger guys through luck and chicanery and celebrating his own awesomeness loudly and awesomely. But in the opening match of the WWE’s biggest show, hulking Irishman Sheamus defeated Bryan and took his belt in all of 16 seconds, kicking Bryan’s face off after he had his back turned.

But on the following night’s edition of Monday Night Raw, though, something magical happened. The crowd, mostly die-hard wrestling fans who’d stuck around Miami for another night after Wrestlemania, cheered for Bryan the entire time, despite Bryan himself never appearing in the ring. Throughout the show, they roared Bryan’s signature chant (“Yes! Yes! Yes!”) no matter what was happening. Those chants have continued at WWE shows, and there have been reports of them appearing at completely unrelated sporting events. Given that Bryan is, in storyline terms, a bad guy, as well as someone who the WWE never took all that seriously, this is the wrestling-fan equivalent of civil disobedience.

Bryan’s got that fan sympathy for a lot of reasons. For one thing, he spent more than a decade wrestling on the independent circuit before making it to the WWE, perfecting his craft to the point where he was, by general dork consensus, the single best pro wrestler in that world. His style, marked by brutal head-kicks and intricate MMA-derived submission holds, is built around doing stuff to his opponents that looks like it hurts real bad, and he’s arguably better than anyone else at bringing that pain. For another, he doesn’t exactly fit the standard pro wrestler image. He’s a scraggly-bearded vegan indie rock fan, and though he’s certainly diesel, he’s nowhere near the absurdly muscular body type we most associate with WWE types. He carries himself like your friend’s half-awkward stoner little brother, and that means he’s an easy man to like.

We spoke with Bryan about his new crowd favorite status, his history with the WWE, and the general difficulties that come with being a vegan professional wrestler.

#WWE #WrestleMania 28 Social Media Stats Revealed;

Source: Mashable.com

WWE’s aim to make WrestleMania the biggest social media event of the year was a huge success. The broadcast at one point had seven of the top nine worldwide trending topics on Twitter. It generated 110 worldwide trends over the show and pre-show’s five hour period. WWE shared a number of other Wrestlemania social stats with Mashable.com:

- A partnership with YouTube to deliver Wrestlemania content gained a total of more than 3.9 million views for the week surrounding the event.
- Despite being a pay-per-view broadcast, Wrestlemania was TV’s most socially engaged program on April 1, according to Trendrr.
- The hashtag #Wrestlemania was mentioned more than 610,000 times on April 1.
- The high level of social engagement delivered record traffic to WWE.com, and a 30% increase over traffic during Wrestlemania the year before.Jason Hoch, WWE’s senior vice president of digital said, “We thought the week was a blast, and it was really special to hear from fans over and over just how awesome it was,” Hoch says. “It was really special for us to see fans connecting with our brand in a unique way.”

“This isn’t a one-off for us,” Hoch says. “This is just continuing to build on the foundation we’ve created.”

Hoch believes Wrestlemania’s social success this year will have a ripple effect on other organizations. “To me, it raises the bar for a lot of other players out there,” he says. “We’ve learned a lot from things like the Super Bowl and Grammys, and I think our holistic approach this year really raised the bar for a lot of organizations. But it’s just the start for us.”

WWE Signs The Rock To Another Deal?,

wwe signs rock to another dealWWE signed The Rock to another one-year deal that will carry through WrestleMania 29 next year. With Lesnar and The Rock headlining next year and the history of the New York market, it’s possible that WrestleMania 29 will be an immediate sellout – something that WWE hasn’t done since 2007. Regarding Lesnar’s deal, it’s said that Vince McMahon was agreeable on the money side but the number of dates that Lesnar would be working was an issue. Both sides ended up giving a little and Lesnar will be appearing for between 30 and 40 dates leading up to WrestleMania 29.

ESPN’s Gus Ramsey tweets that WM28 sold 1.9 million buys

Here is the second tweet – the first he said he ‘accidentally’ deleted

accidentally deleted my earlier tweet. Rock and Brock each sign 1 year deals. WM28 did 1.9M buys. WWE was targeting 1.5M

He followed that up with:

haven’t seen anything in writing. so maybe the # is wrong, or I misheard it, but pretty sure that was the # + WWE very happy

Rock is not scheduled to be around any time soon. Brock’s deal is supposedly one year for at least 30-35 appearances. So we will see how correct Ramsey is on both of these statements. He later said

I trust who I heard it from, but again no confirmation.

He admits he doesn’t have a WWE source, just one in general from working at ESPN. More as it develops.

wrestlemania A anonymous source inside ESPN claim that there were 1.9 millios buys for this years Wrestlemania. If true that would be 900,000 more buys than last year.

@JohnCena finally posts his first post WrestleMania tweet

After losing to The Rock and getting F5′ed by a pudgy Brock Lesnar on consecutive nights, this was Cena’s first tweet since prior to the WrestleMania event.

4/2/12 Raw Preview

The Raw after Wrestlemania always has a ton of questions coming in.

Here are just a few for tonight:

  • What does The Rock say after his win in his last appearance for a while?
  • What does John Cena say after coming up short at Wrestlemania?
  • What does Teddy Long do without a show to run?
  • How does Chris Jericho react after losing the WWE championship match, and presumably, the title of best in the world to CM Punk?
  • Will the WWE let the stupid Eve/Ryder angle go away and let The Long Island Iced Z actually have a decent storyline?
  • Will Daniel Bryan or Sheamus make an appearance, or will they save that for Smackdown?
  • What will HHH, Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels say about the Undertaker going to 20-0?
  • Will Batista and/or Brock Lesnar make an appearance?

Wrestlemania Sets Records

MIAMI, FL – April 1, 2012 – WWE® (NYSE: WWE) announced tonight that WrestleMania XXVIII set three records. With a sellout crowd of 78,363 fans from all 50 states and 36 countries, the annual pop culture extravaganza became Sun Life Stadium’s largest attended event and highest grossing entertainment event in history. Grossing $8.9 million, it was also the highest grossing live event in WWE history. The event was broadcast around the world on pay-per-view in more than 105 countries and 20 languages.

The previous Sun Life Stadium attendance record was 77,912 for the BCS National Championship in 2005. Its highest grossing entertainment event was U2 on June 29, 2011, grossing more than $7.5 million. WrestleMania XXVIII surpassed the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania in Houston, which grossed $7.2 million. This marks the third consecutive year WrestleMania broke the gross entertainment event record of the host venue.

“WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami-Dade County was an incredible event for WWE. WWE would like to thank our loyal fans, as well as the public and private sector partners for their tireless efforts to help make WrestleMania Week such a success,” said John P. Saboor, Senior Vice President of Special Events, WWE. “We now look forward to building on these achievements as we head to MetLife Stadium for WrestleMania XXIX next year.”

WrestleMania XXIX will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Ticket information will be announced later this year.

Sheamus joins Twitter – @WWESheamus

Only one tweet so far, but with this picture attached:

The tweet was only a few minutes after he won the World Heavyweight Championship from Daniel Bryan, so it looks like it is a legit account.

Why did Jim Ross call Hell in a Cell?

We’ve heard from a WWE source that the reason Good Ol’ JR was brought to ringside to call a single match at WrestleMania 28 was because the Undertaker requested it several weeks ago.

If that is the case, it means that once again @jrsbarbq on twitter was not telling the truth when asked about his role at WrestleMania.

WrestleMania Recap

A quick rundown of the matches last night at WrestleMania.

  1. The the pre-show dark match, Epico & Primo defeated The Usos and Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships. Pretty short match overall, but allowed the WWE to test live streaming pre-PPV matches.
  2. Sheamus defeated Daniel Bryan to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Squash match. One brogue kick and it was over.
  3. Kane defeated Randy Orton with a chokeslam from the top rope. Good match over. Little slow in spots, but overall a good match.
  4. The Big Show defeated Cody Rhodes to become the new Intercontinental Champion with a knockout punch. This not only gave Big Show a nice WrestleMania moment, but he became a triple crown champion with his first IC title win.
  5. Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos defeated Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres.
  6. Undertaker defeated Triple H inside Hell in a Cell to run his WrestleMania record to 20-0. Great match. Great storytelling. Shawn Michaels got involved at various points to ‘think’ about stopping the match as well as stop both HHH and Undertaker from using weapons too much in the match. After the match, Taker and Michaels carried HHH to the back. Great moment.
  7. Team Johnny defeated Team Teddy in a match that I would say was better than I expected. Dolph Ziggler took a couple of amazing bumps, including doing a full flip from a springboard. The match ended with Zack Ryder getting the Miz in the corner, lined up for the Broski boot, when Eve came into the ring. She distracted both the ref and Ryder long enough for Miz to get up and deliver the Skullcrushing finale on Ryder and pick up the win. After the match, Eve kicked Ryder in his ‘little broski’ and stormed away from the ring.
  8. CM Punk defeated Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Championship. Great match. Featured one of the best go-home wrestling segments I have ever seen.
  9. The Rock defeated John Cena. Very good match. Slow start, great build, good action. Both men kicked out of the others finishers, and both men endured a long submission hold from the other. Rock picked up the win when Cena went for the People’s Elbow and Rock jumped up from the mat and Rock Bottomed him.

Overall, a very good slow. The low points where definitely the Sheamus/Bryan match, which everyone wanted to be longer and let us see a great match, and the divas match, which was about as expected.

WrestleMania – The Rock’s win proves his ego is out of control

In the long history of ‘passing the torch’ matches, no one has had the ridiculous ego to not put the new guy over.

Hogan even put the Rock over 10 years ago. But could Dwayne do the same? No. He just couldn’t bring himself to job to John Cena.

And Cena, being the company man – scratch that, the man – that he is, did the job. Clean I might add. Its been a very, very long time since John Cena lost a match completely clean. But he did it last night to The Rock.

The question is: Why?

What purpose did Rock winning serve?

  • To stroke his ego? Accomplished.
  • To get the live crowd to go bonkers? Accomplished.
  • To give old Rock fans a moment? Accomplished.
  • To push storylines ahead? We have to wait and see.
  • To prove Cena is the face of the WWE? Failed.
  • To give the current fans – the ones that aren’t just tuning in to see The Rock – a moment? Failed.
No one wanted to see interference. No one wanted to see a crappy finish. We got neither of those. That was good. But the WWE had two people in this match. One they know is only doing one more appearance for a while, and that is tonight on Raw. The other will be there every single night for the foreseeable future. Why did the one that was leaving get the win?
This is equivalent of letting Bret beat Shawn in Montreal. Bret wanted the win there, because it was Canada, and said he would vacate the belt on Raw the next night. But Vince didn’t want to see someone that was leaving win on his last Pay Per View. So he screwed Bret. At least we know Vince has changed his mind on such things in the meantime.
Maybe the WWE will surprise me and go somewhere with Cena from this. But I doubt it. I think Vince’s love for Rock just allowed him to let a – lets face it – non-wrestler go over his biggest star in the biggest event of the year. And for no other reason than the huge pop from the crowd.
Rock will come out tonight, say the same exact things he’s said for a year, and be gone. He’ll going away to film movies. Good riddance.

#WrestleMania 28 Predictions: The Rock vs John Cena

Call this match what you will.

Once in a Lifetime
The Wrestler vs The Movie Star
The Fruity Pebble vs The People’s Champion
Cenation vs Team Bring It

or anything else you want to say. There is one thing that it definitely is:

The Main Event: The Rock vs John Cena

The match that has basically a 14 month feud since Rock’s return last February is finally here. It will definitely close the show. It will most likely bring the house down. It should end with a handshake in the center of the ring.

The feud has gone from red-hot to cold back to red hot. And quite frankly, Cena has had the advantage for most of it. Rock’s skills on the microphone have waned, and it seems that if he doesn’t have a script prepared, he doesn’t do well at all.

The Rock did have a great performance in his in-ring return at Survivor Series, when it seemed like Madison Square Garden was going to fall over and ruin its new 1/3 refurbishment from the fans going crazy.

As with Rock vs Hogan ten years ago at this very event, this is two eras colliding. And there is only one way for it to end. With a Cena victory. It doesn’t make any sense for the WWE to have The Rock win the match. It would only serve to help The Rock. A victory by Cena will help legitimize him to fans, even if they think it is ‘Super Cena’ striking again. I see it differently.

I think tonight’s main event will show everyone that Cena can really go in the ring. He has had very good to great to classic matches before, but people seem to not notice. He can wrestle. Yes, he does ‘five moves of doom’ every week on Raw. But so do all the main eventers. Thats because they don’t have time to do anything else. The 35 or so minutes this match will go will allow Cena to show his ability. And with this match on the biggest stage of them all, against one of the top three superstars of all time (Hogan, Austin) fans will notice. Will it win everyone over? No, of course not. And people will be pissed when he wins. But it will win some fans over. And thats what WWE is counting on.

Winner: John Cena

#WrestleMania 28 Predictions: Undertaker vs HHH – Hell in a Cell

Its finally WrestleMania day. And I’m down to my predictions on the two biggest matches.

Hell in a Cell: Undertaker vs HHH

To me, this match is extremely easy to call. But the build and the storyline require I give it a little time.

This started last year, with the 2-21-12 promos. Undertaker came back, fans went wild. He came out into the ring … and out walks HHH. He challenges to a WrestleMania match, seemingly for no good reason.

They have an epic match, as much as Undertaker could handle with all his injuries then, and Undertaker wins, before being carted out of the arena. That is the focus of the feud for this year – that he had to be carted out.

HHH said that he didn’t want the rematch because he knew he would have to ‘end’ the Undertaker to win. But Undertaker simply called HHH a coward and he accepted – as long as it was Hell in a Cell. Lot of convincing, there.

Shawn Michaels was then added by the ‘board’ as special guest referee, which adds another level of intrigue to the match. With UT telling HHH that ‘Shawn is better’, it sets the stage for HHH attacking Shawn during the match.

I don’t think there is any way Undertaker loses. By all reports, he is in better condition this year than last, and his injuries and surgeries have healed well. Having him lose the streak to an older wrestler like HHH makes no sense whatsoever, and does not further anyone or anything except for HHH’s ego. Which, as we know, is a considerable thing in itself.

There is no indication that this is Undertaker’s last match. Despite them calling this ‘the end of an era’, it will not be that.

I see Michaels costing HHH the match somehow. Either purposely or accidentally, and HHH taking it out on Shawn tomorrow night on Raw. This will set up one of next years main events – Shawn Michaels vs HHH at WrestleMania 29.

Winner and 20-0: Undertaker

WWE Championship Match: CM Punk vs Chris Jericho

This is the match a lot of wrestling fans are really waiting for. Ever since Jericho starting attacking Punk on Twitter months before the vignettes for his return even started, people started dreaming about a CM Punk vs Chris Jericho feud. I feel a lot of potential has been lost, since it is only the 3rd most important match on the card to the WWE right now, but that doesn’t mean this has to end at WrestleMania. Since the Rock/Cena and HHH/UT matches won’t have a return match at Extreme Rules, this match definitely will. That means a non-clean ending one way or another.

Jericho has said his whole reason for coming back was to take on Punk. This is great for this storyline, but it limits what else Jericho can do. He is expect to be gone by the summer, due to a tour with Fozzy. But would he really come back for such a short stint and not claim ‘his’ WWE title during the process?

The feud has picked up in recent weeks with Jericho attacking Punk’s family – and with Punk’s great acting. Maybe he should get a WWE movie role, after all. And with Punk ‘snapping’ and injuring Christian on Raw, the WWE tried to show Jericho was having an effect on Punk.

I expect a great match here. Punk vs Jericho, two of the best wrestlers in the world – and not only as a catchphrase – on the biggest stage of them all. They will get plenty of time to show off what they can do. They will be able to work the crowd, take time in the match, and properly tell a story in the ring. I expect nothing short of a five star performance from both men.

But when its all said and done, what will happen?

Jericho will win, that is what is going to happen. I’m thinking old school foot on the ropes while Jericho pins Punk.

Winner and NEW WWE Champion: Chris Jericho

Report: #WWE rehires Fit Finlay

The WWE has rehired wrestler/booker/agent Fit Finlay, according to the Wrestling Observer.

Finlay was fired from the WWE in March 2011. He had the Miz draw heat at a house show by interrupting the National Anthem as it was being played. This upset the Army National Guard, a major WWE sponsor.

Finlay is reportedly with the WWE in Florida for WrestleMania.

#WrestleMania 28 Predictions: Team Teddy vs Team Johnny

Team Teddy (Santino, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali & Booker T)
Team Johnny (David Otunga, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Jack Swagger, Mark Henry & Drew McIntyre)

From the introduction of John Laurinitis to the every day WWE viewer way back at Money in the Bank when he took a bump that Vince McMahon would have taken himself years ago, his character has brought massive heat. His deep voice, the way he talks, fans just hate it. He has grown as a character, yes, and is a lot more sure of himself on the microphone now, but is still painful to watch sometimes. The ‘Elimination Pay Per View’ and announcing The Miz as joining Team Teddy before quickly correcting himself are two of the most glaring. I mean, how do you forget your own name?

Teddy Long, on the other hand, has been running Smackdown, with a short ECW stint in the middle, since 2004. His character is tired, stale, and quite frankly, boring. So much so that there is this flow chart of his decisions:

This match has a possibility of being anywhere on the map. With 12 men in the ring, and only one fall to a finish, it could be very short, or go pretty long. Couple of things that we will see for sure:

  1. Ziggler will be given time to show off
  2. Everyone will get their finishers off in a back to back series as we’ve seen in multi man tags a lot lately
  3. It will devolve into an all out brawl at least once.

The possibilities for a heel GM are just a lot higher than a face GM. People want to see the face win over long (no pun intended) odds and strike back against the GM. Plus, we are all tired of tag team matches. Not that the booking will change with a different Smackdown GM, but the storylines will.

I think the move to one GM is part of a long term WWE plan to finally reunite the brands. They are just taking their time and doing it one slow step at a time. The first was reintegrating the rosters completely with the ‘RAW SuperShows’. This is the next. Next month will be what I figure the final ‘Draft’. Will it lead to less titles? Possibly. I could see the US title going away, but leaving both the WHC and WWE titles.

As for the outcome, I see two possible finishes. One is Zack Ryder taking the victory over someone, to give him a WrestleMania moment as a reward for all his work over the past year. The other is some sort of shenanigans that cause Team Teddy to lose. I know it won’t be a clean Laurinitis win, but it will be a win for them, I believe. I don’t know if it will be a heel turn by someone on Team Teddy, or outside interference, or just a referee outright missing something. But it will be a Team Johnny win.

Winner: Team Johnny

We’ve had reports in the last 24 hours of the following people being on site for WrestleMania:

Brock Lesnar
Dave Bautista
Amy Dumas (Lita)

Lita is most likely there to support Edge for his Hall of Fame Induction.

Lesnar and Bautista could be there for any reason, from appearing at the event for some reason to simply being there because they are friends with current superstars. Lesnar is known to be ‘close’ to the Undertaker, and UT has famously gone to Lesnar’s UFC bouts.

Bautista has said that he was not happen with the direction of the WWE, so seeing him return to action would be a surprise.

CM Punk Answers Twitter Questions on Video

Sheamus talks #WrestleMania, motivation, WWE ’12

I asked THQ to simulate the upcoming Sheamus versus Daniel Bryan Wrestlemania match, and after 50 “WWE 12″ slugfests, Sheamus won 52-percent of the championship bouts thanks to a series of thunderous Brogue Kicks to Bryan’s smug mug.

“Only 52-percent, fella?” Sheamus says after I tell him the results. “I think there must be something wrong with your Xbox. I think I should win 100-percent of the time.”

And with Sheamus continuing to explode in popularity, both in the WWE ring and online in the latest WWE video game, the man who makes even mayonnaise seem colorful, might be right.

In fact, when I asked THQ to pull the numbers for the past few months, gamers have used the Sheamus character across 303,654 online matches, making him one of the most popular superstars in the virtual ring.

“That’s crazy,” Sheamus says with a laugh. “The fact that I’m even in a video game blows me away, but ‘WWE 12′ is even more special to me because they have a whole storyline around Sheamus in the game. It’s really, really cool. Being in a video game was one of my dreams, I just hope I can win some of those matches for people online. Just remember to use the Brogue Kick, and you should be fine.

#WrestleMania 28 Predictions: Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus

The next on the list of my WrestleMania predictions:

World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus

Daniel Bryan was planned to hold the Money in the Bank Briefcase all the way through to WrestleMania, when he would finally cash it in on a heel. Probably Mark Henry, who, at this point, would be at the end of his push as the most dominant heel in quite a long time. However, Henry’s injuries changed that plan. The WWE had Bryan cash in at TLC, and take the title from Big Show, who had just defeated the legitimately injured Henry.

Since then, they’ve turned Bryan from the somewhat boring face character that he was to a tweener, and finally all the way heel. His current character is much like his indie character, where he was still loved by wrestling fans, but was a heel in the ring, including the famous ‘I have til 5!’ yells he would do when the ref wanted him to break a hold. The irritating ‘YES! YES! YES!’ yelling gets him major heat, and I feel is absolutely hysterical.

Sheamus has also been slowly built to the moon. His Royal Rumble win, and huge win streak have him coming in huge to this match.

There are two ways this match could go.

1. Bryan wins cheaply, by outside interference by AJ or someone else, and retains the title.
2. Sheamus wins, but not cleanly.

Either way, the feud will continue at least til Extreme Rules. This is their first match over the title, it won’t be the only one.

That said, here is what I see happening.

Bryan gets the advantage by hook or by crook, and looks close to a victory. AJ gets involved, either purposely or accidentally distracting the ref from counting the fall. This allows Sheamus to hit Bryan with one of his finishers and win the match.

Winner and New World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus

#WrestleMania 28 Predictions: Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes vs The Big Show

In the first title match that I’ll be predicting for WrestleMania, I’m going to tell you who will be the Intercontinental Champion coming out of The Show of Shows.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Cody Rhodes vs The Big Show

This match had a strange build. Going back months, we’ve heard rumors of Shaquille O’Neal being The Big Show’s WrestleMania opponent. At one point, Shaq even tweeted as much. But for whatever reason, that match is not happening. Instead, we got a feud that has focused on Big Show’s WrestleMania losses.

Show has been a great company man for a long time. His losses and appearances against celebrities cant be called anything else, in reality, except for him being a company man. And his loss record isn’t as high at WrestleMania as Shawn Michaels’, but you don’t see the WWE bringing that up.

Shows part of this feud has been him showing his anger and Cody running away from him.

Rhodes has held the belt for quite a while, and done a pretty good job as Champion. I believe the WWE is going to give him a push towards the World Heavyweight Championship, and that means losing the IC title. Which I think he will do, at WrestleMania, to The Big Show. Show will only be an intermediate IC Champ before passing it along to someone else.

Winner and New Intercontinental Champion: The Big Show

#TNA Issues Press Release Regarding Ric Flair and WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony

TNA IMPACT WRESTLING Star Ric Flair® to Attend WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Flair Confirms He Will be Present in Miami When the Four Horsemen Receive Their Hall of Fame Honor

CHARLOTTE, NC – (March 27, 2012) International celebrity the Nature Boy® Ric Flair is set to become the only wrestler in history to be inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Fame twice. Flair’s dominant 1980s wrestling group, the Four Horsemen, known to be the greatest in ring performers of all time, will be granted their seat in the Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Miami, FL on March 31st, the day before Wrestlemania XXVIII. Flair will be inducted along-side fellow members of the Four Horsemen: Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham, and J.J. Dillon.

The news of Flair’s second induction was followed by a firestorm of controversy. Questions flew about whether Flair would attend the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony as he is currently under contract with Total Nonstop Action (TNA)
Wrestling. Understanding what a huge honor this is for Flair, TNA is graciously supporting him in the decision to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony alongside his fellow inductees. “Being inducted once was one of the greatest accomplishments of my career, so I’m humbled and honored to be recognized again. I wouldn’t miss the ceremony for the world,” says Flair.

TNA President Dixie Carter says, “We are proud of Ric’s many accomplishments and contributions he has made to the world of professional wrestling and beyond. We wish to congratulate him on yet another honor he truly deserves.”

Flair, a 16-time World Heavyweight Champion, was inducted individually into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008. On becoming a two-time inductee his agent Melinda Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent and Entertainment says, “We are all so proud to be watching Ric continue to make history. There will never be an athlete more deserving of wearing two Hall of Fame rings than Ric Flair.”

For more information on Ric Flair go to www.ricflair.com, follow him on Facebook: Ric Flair, The Nature Boy, or on Twitter: @RicFlairNatrBoy. Flair is currently with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. TNA airs Thursday nights (9/8c) on Spike TV with monthly 3- hour Per-Per-View events.

Why was @christian4peeps removed from #WrestleMania

It isn’t as bad as some would think with the way Christian has always been mistreated, especially since his return from TNA. However, it seems his ankle just isn’t healed enough for him to fully go yet, so they pulled him out. He loses a huge payday, but at least it isn’t backstage politics this time.

#WrestleMania 28 Predictions: Randy Orton vs Kane

The second match prediction I’m going to make is another one that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Randy Orton vs Kane

I can only hope that there was a larger plan with these two for WrestleMania, and it fell through. This feud has seemed forced, and they just stuck them together to get them on the card.

Orton has been getting the upper hand in the feud a lot. Neither man really needs a push, since they are always upper card guys. That makes it difficult to pick the winner.

Smackdown is very heel heavy, and with multiple heels waiting in the wings to return from injuries (or ‘re-injuries’, like Christian), it doesn’t bode well for Kane.

However – Sheamus is the #1 Face on Smackdown now. Win or lose in his match (that prediction is coming later) he will still be hanging around the title scene for a while. That doesn’t bode well for Orton – if he wins, where does he go from there?

Here’s what I see – a Kane victory, one way or another. Immediately after the match, Orton RKOs him to give him a ‘WrestleMania Moment’ for the year. On the upcoming ‘Draft’, Kane will be sent to Raw as a ‘monster heel’.

Winner: Kane

The Go-Home #Raw Before #WrestleMania – A Preview

Before Raw kicks off tonight, we have an hour preview of the Cena vs Rock feud. Everyone that has seen it has said it is very good, and contains a lot of unseen, behind the scenes footage. I’ll be watching.

Once we get onto the show, expect nearly every match to be given at least some time to build. But the main events are the ones that are going to get a lot of time.

Expect the show to close with Cena and Rock. Middle of the show will be HHH vs Taker, and the show will open with Team Teddy vs Team Johnny. Filling in the rest of the segments will be the other matches. I expect Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk and Sheamus vs Chris Jericho matches, as usual.

The only match that I see with little build tonight is the ‘celebrity’ match of Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs Eve and Beth Phoenix, mostly because Menounos appearantly suffered a broken rib during Dancing with the Stars training.

We’re 1 hour away from the Rock vs Cena special. Bring it on WWE, we’re waiting.

Maria Menuonos’ broken rib – will it stop her from competing at #WrestleMania ?

Fox News is reporting that Maria Menuonos broke a rib during her Dancing with the Stars rehearsals a few weeks ago.

Will this keep her limited or out of WrestleMania? Probably not out, but limited for sure. WWE wouldn’t want to see her get injured more ‘on the biggest stage of them all’.

So they will keep her limited as much as possible, and the match will consist of Kelly Kelly being beaten on by Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres.

Maria is continuing to work through her injuries with Dancing, but with The Show of Shows only six days away, she will definitely put even more limits on what was always going to be a limited match.

#WrestleMania 28 Predictions: Kelly Kelly & Maria Menuonos vs Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres

We’re starting off our WrestleMania Predictions with the match that is cared about the least by the WWE fans.

This year, however, the ‘celebrity’ match is one I can see the celebrity actually losing. Do I think that it is going to happen? No. But I see it as a possibility.

Here’s what I see – a short match, but longer than typical divas matches. Give it 6-8 minutes. Finally Maria takes a pinfall victory over Beth.

After the match, Beth lays out both Maria and Kelly Kelly. She Glam-Slams both of them at least once, and sets one of them up for another – when Kharma’s music hits. And out comes Kharma to clear the ring and start her feud with Beth for the Divas Championship.

Winners: Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos

What will the #WrestleMania match order be?

We’re 13 days out from WrestleMania 28. Only four shows left, two of Raw and two of Smackdown.

So with time running short, one of the logical things to discuss is the order in which the matches are going to be contested.

Here is a list of the current matches – with the possibility that one could be added in the next 13 days.

  • John Cena vs The Rock
  • Randy Orton vs Kane
  • Team Teddy vs Team Johnny
  • The Undertaker vs Triple H in Hell in a Cell with special guest referee Shawn Michaels
  • WWE Champion CM Punk vs Chris Jericho
  • World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus
  • Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes vs The Big Show
  • Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs Divas Champion Beth Phoenix & Eve

The first thing to keep in mind is that WWE likes breaking the big matches up, somewhat. Last year the show opened with Edge vs Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship. The same thing could happen this year, with Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus, and I think that will be how WWE will go. Trying to open the show with a bang.

The second thing to remember is that the WWE learned its lesson when Rock vs Hogan did not close WrestleMania 18. Rock vs Cena will definitely close WrestleMania 28.

They definitely will not put Hell in a Cell right back to back with Rock vs Cena. They will give the crowd a chance to calm down between the matches. So thats the perfect spot for the ‘celebrity’ match of Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs Divas Champion Beth Phoenix & Eve.

I also don’t think they will lead into Hell in a Cell with the WWE Championship match, so they will put something between the two as well. Seems like a good spot for Team Teddy vs Team Johnny.

Before the WWE Championship match, I see the Randy Orton vs Kane match.

That leaves the second match of the show, which is Cody Rhodes vs Big Show for the Intercontinental Championship.

So here’s our projected match order:

  1. World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus
  2. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes vs The Big Show
  3. Randy Orton vs Kane
  4. WWE Champion CM Punk vs Chris Jericho
  5. Team Teddy vs Team Johnny
  6. The Undertaker vs Triple H in Hell in a Cell with special guest referee Shawn Michaels
  7. Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs Divas Champion Beth Phoenix & Eve
  8. John Cena vs The Rock
We will see in 13 nights how accurate this is. Stay tuned for my predictions on each match.
